I believe I’m doing everything perfect but leaning forward upon descending.

@weldertaco can you elaborate on what you mean by doing a high bar squat while in the low bar position?

Probably going to have to upload a side view vid at near current rpe7 to get any real help. It is normal for some forward lean during the squat, unless you have Olympic level lifter leverages that’s how you will keep the weight over mid foot.

You are right. Gotta actually see it.
I’m not nearly at rpe7 at this point. I’m approaching being able to use the whole bar tho. So I got that going for me.

I feel comfortable and natural with low bar with minimal weight. I’m going to work on this.

Any thoughts on using a belt to help encourage more core activation?
In PT its common to use bands, tape, or even someone touching you to try to build a mind-body connection between the muscle group you want to activate and the movement.
Wonder if a belt may help, even though I understand it cannot be used as a crutch when progressing. They can be harmful to building basic strength.

Use a belt and see how it feels. Who cares if people say "it's a crutch", you aren't trying to or claiming to be a big lifter anyway

Lol kind of neither? More of an observation. You're a runner not a powerlifter, right?

You can always hit an rpe7, Rate of Perceived Exertion. So find a weight that when you perform 3 reps, you feel you only have the ability to perform 3 more before failure, that is RPE. You may already know that and I just wasted my time.
If you can’t actively feel your core engaging without a belt I would definitely wear one to get the activation down.

This is true I’m prolly just afraid to try that right now. I still have not regained full trust in my knee although I should be fine to push things.

I do feel my core engaging which is good. I probably just need to focus on that more and all the other parts less (the parts I already have nailed).

Without seeing shit, I’d say you’re subconsciously compensating and using mostly back, rather than back and legs, because of your recent knee issue. You said it’s on the decent, which reinforces that theory..
    You’ll figure it out.

Stan Efferding has a good low bar squat tutorial on YouTube that helped me learn the transition from high bar.

Im willing to bet that’s part of it for sure. Hard to get comfortable with the lean forward style that comes with low bar.
