What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Not this time. I did it 2 years ago when I did the frame swap. Also added the larger file tank. Went from a 15 to 18 gallon.

 

Mounted way too big of a winch in a smallish bumper, only required minor modification.









I'm pleased with it, not like I'll ever pull that much with it. The size of the Tacoma and weight pretty much prohibits that from ever happening. But with a fully wrapped drum it can still yank 6,700lbs and down to one wrap you get the 12k and a brake that can hold that much. That and synthetic line, wired/wireless remote, and all the stuff to relocate the contactor box, pretty freaking good deal at $470

What’s the weight of that winch

 

The way this one is configured with synth rope and the contactor box relocated the winch itself weighs in just a hair over 42lbs

 

How much liner did the bed take?

 

Minus all the dents and cracks. And certainly don't look at the mounts.

I bought a 4 liter kit and used 3. You may be able to get by with 2 if you're careful. My last bottle was just covering some thin spots, and then hitting everything lightly again.

 

What bed supports did you use? I was going to make some, but if there are some good ones on the market I'll get those

 

The lift kit or the toilet paper? Could go either way these days...

A buddy made them for me. Don't think he's making more for the time being.

There's at least one company that makes off-the-shelf supports for the 1st gen though.

I think those are a solid choice. I've been running AT3 XLTs for a while now and been happy with them.

We'll see how it holds up, but first impressions are excellent.

 

Yeah I don’t need the beefy sidewalls and am looking to save weight. They also have a $75 rebate going right now.

Besides...I’ve ripped a hole in three different BFG KO or KO2s anyway. As you know.

3rz intake, the top half. 200k miles of pcv and egr crap. I can get it off...if I can get to it. I can't get to most of it.

Hmm. Acetone did really good on the oily stuff, is xylene good for the EGR deposits?
