I used a wire brush and sanding sponge after stripping the clear with aircraft remover. Cerakote clear on the body and fittings, bronze on the springs, black on UCAs. No rust so far. Fox hooked me up with new stickers. I also wrapped the bodies and reservoirs (straight sides) with 3M protective film. I keep a light coat of fluid film just as a precaution. Lots of work, but worth it in the long run.

Those look bad ass... I would go this route with the clear if mine were not already corroded..

Talked to fox and several companies around town, they recommend sandblasting with aluminum oxide, 180 grit, start low and the pressure and build up if needed.

Need to get hooked up with some fox decals.. kartek are running 50$ to replace all mine.

Just call Fox directly. You might have to cover shipping, but that's a lot less than $50. I can't believe KarTek would charge that much.

Mine had rust spots as well. You will have to be careful around the anodized aluminum top/bottom. The sanding sponge was to give a uniform look. The wire brush was for the threads. There were areas where the zinc coating was thin, which will have a darker look. I'd say sand blasting might be too aggressive on the threads and will end up removing the zinc coating, it may not. Worth a try on a spot that won't show.

Edit: This is what they looked like before:62051286-29EC-4958-95E0-EB0B3E4F9D2A.jpg

i plan on taking the coilover down to the shock body and rebuilding it..

i don’t wanna deal with it rusting again. So removing zinc coating and cerakoting the body is my plan, then applying the clear for added protection and gloss.

Cerekote elite is bad ass I have it on a rifle and it tuff.. but colors are limited.

you did an outstanding job, looks great.

Is there any benefit to upgrading the ifp in my 2.5 dsc reservoir? The stock one is some sort of plastic not aluminum with a wear band.

Sure, you can get an aluminum IFP. A bit stronger and more durable. About $20/each

I would look elsewhere. Those are not an OEM Fox coilover for a Tacoma. Also looks like an extremely heavy rate spring

You can get a part number of the seal cap, however I wouldn't even bother asking for that.

I’m currently rebuilding my fox 2.5s with dsc. After 40,000 miles it’s time. I’m looking for pointers on which way to go on the valving. The truck feel stiff on the start of compression. Also I’ve never run with the dsc passed 2 clicks on high speed comp, too stiff. I think I need to lower compression valving to smooth out ride and then if I need it stiffer I can adjust dsc on the trail. The guys at accutune have helped me a lot over phone and emails. I don’t really want to waist there time any more and wanted to try and do it myself.

    Factory rebound is a #70
Factory compression is a #55 with flutter stack.

I’m thinking about putting a #60 rebound in and a #45 or #40 compression in and adding a shim to the flutter stack, a .800x.012.

    Any thoughts out there?

Full OME Kit, Level 8 MK6 Wheels wrapped in 255/80/17 Cooper Maxxs, NWTI Plate Bumper, Flowmaster 40 muffler, Smittybilt X2O 10K winch.
So I figured this would be a good place to ask vs starting a new thread. I have OME gear all around and Im so so sick of the lean. I have proper height on the passenger side but no matter what Ive tried on the driver side I get like 1.5" in lean to the driver side. I run the heaviest spring and the preload spacer on that side too and Im thinking of switching over to foxes in the front (either the 2.0 or 2.5) to add adjustability and put a heavier spring on the driver side. I do have a steel bumper and winch up front too. I don't think I want the reservoirs as I dont do anything high speed just want the truck to sit and ride right. I do already have icon ucas so Im good on that. I want to keep the 2-2.5" lift up front like the OME stuff provided to keep running 33s, in you guys opinions what would be the best set up, also unsure if I want to do the rear struts fox too but Ive seen you can get the front and rear for like $200 more so might as well haha

I was looking at the 2.5 non resi fronts with 2.0 resi rears, SPC uppers and deaver add a leaf from Headstrong Offroad for 2400$ shipped. Then I found the Stage 2A kit from AccuTune Offroad 4100$... I mean thats 1700$ more than what I want to spend! Maybe the stage 1 or 2 kit is all i need? Is the Accutune setups really worth the price? I can't decide!

Edited: Since I just read about DSC adjustables. I don't really need them. The AccuTune stage 2 kit would probably be what I'm looking for. As for the UCA is the Delta Joint by Icon better then SPC Adjustables? Also is the 3 leaf adda leaf better then a single?

I am not an expert, so take what I say accordingly, but I have heard the SPC's are better in the sense that they are highly adjustable and I think are one of the few options that works well for specific lift kits (I think around 3"?). I have SPCs waiting for me to stop procrastinating.

I went with the toytec progressive (deaver) 3 leaf add a leaf as well as the spc uca and am very happy with both. The spc uca give you the most adjustability available with both caster and camber able to be adjusted easily. The upper ball joint is also sealed and easily greasable which is nice because they don't creak or squeak like some of the other options available. When replacing the uca I recommend buying new uca bolts as they are much easier to just cut to romove and then install your new ones in the opposite direction so you dont have to bend your inner fender to remove or replace parts later. :fistbump:

Just be sure to compare the same parts that come in our kits to other kits online. The custom valving we provide, is completely free. We have used the Icon Delta joint in our kits for a while with no issues, however we can certainly get you an SPC arm if thats what you would like to go with. If you have any specific questions about our kits, feel free to send us a message

What fox rear shocks are good for a first-gen with Dakar's in the back. I have about 2.5" of lift. I don't want to have to do a shock relocation.

Can you tell me the difference between your tuned shocks vs ordering off the shelf? How's the ride compare? I cant afford the DSC versions as the Stage 2 is already pushing my limit lol. So I need to know if I am still gonna be able to put weight in the bed or tow my flat bed occasionally (couple times a year, if that)?
