Fitting 35's on 3" suspension lift

Looks damn good! I really dig that you were able to keep the stock fender flares. Any pics showing what you did there? Did you not cut the fender mounting points off? Whats your wheel backspacing? Spacers?

I just ordered 315s and am getting ready to put my girl under the knife. Im wanting to notch the frame and run 4.5"back spaced wheels to keep everything under the fenders and allow me to try and keep my stock flares.

Ok, never mind. Im reading this thread backwards and now Im seeing more of your info. So your wheels are 4"backspaced and no spacers. So rad. How bad do you get into the frame when turning?

 

Can always just build your own inner fenders again with some abs. Or mud flaps. Common with long travel guys.

 

That's what rob did with his rig. Looks great. I don't have the patience for that. Lol.

That’s what I did using Kydex (PVC) and it turned out awesome.









ETA: Post originally had ABS, I actually used Kydex, which is PVC-based.

Just use a heat gun or hair dryer.

Yep. I made a cardboard template to get me close and then used a heat gun. It formed beautifully. Never had my tires scrape them despite stuffing the front tires a bunch of times, so apparently I’ve clearanced the fenders and molded the kydex well enough to miss everything.

Yep. I went with the 0.080” thickness. It’s not the cheapest material, but it worked perfectly for this and I’ve had zero issues with it since. I’d shop around a bit. Also, I mistakenly called it ABS, but Kydex is actually a PVC.

It’s good stuff. I made a cover for my winch drum to try to keep the sun and the elements off of my synthetic line. Worked great!

Well here we go, I guess Ill update you guys if my frame cracks in half.
315/75/16s on 4.5" BS wheels.

Lots of 3/16" plating to go but it will be able to turn lock to lock without rubbing at ride height and through most of the travel. At full bump it hits the body mount and the frame rail at the same time. (thats the theoretical max, it shouldn't ever see that with the taller superbumps installed).

 

dont think ive seen anybody else have to go to the extreme of notching the frame to clear. i ran 2.3bs and dont hit it yet i didn't need to tub that much either (althoughi have 1" bl). did you set your alignment to bring the wheel forward?

 

cause everyone gets different wheels or spacers lol

 

I just let it polish the frame and pretend everything is fine because I'm more worried about breaking shit than having tired rubbing

 

hah that too. Though without wheel spacers I would def be rubbing the shit outta my spindle too.

 

i think having so much bs actually made him tub more than usual. my tires are out so far i really only needed to deal with the outer edge of inner fender where i had to go back to door hinge. Not sure how its possible but i havent had to relocate my windshield wash reservoir either

 

I definitely had to cut more towards the inside and less on the outside. and the outer fender didn't need as much taken out of it.
I specifically planned to run 4.5"bs wheels to keep my scrub radius within check and take as much stress off the tie rods, steering rack, balljoints as I could.
Plus I dislike mud and wanted the fender coverage.

 

I thought my balls were massive just cutting out the firewall, but notching the frame is next level confidence. Keep us posted how it turns out - it looks like you've nearly halved the amnt of material in a critical part of the truck
