Wiper Issue

Do Toyota's require specific type of windsheild wipers? I bought a set of Anco's (cheapies I know) and put them on when wiping they just bounce all over, Like skipping across windshield making a horrid sound.

So I bought a more expensive wiper like the Michelin's, they do the same thing, even worse. It does it all speeds even when parked. My windshield is sandblasted so to speak from highway driving. Never in all my years of driving did I have a issue like this.

 

mine do the same thing bought the rainx wipers they stopped it from skipping

 

you get what you pay for. you buy cheap, they perform cheap

 

Michelins were like 11 each. I used Anco's all my life, no problems. I have no problem spending like 20 25 each if it will solve the problem. Just need to know what works.

 

Thanks man...Its annoying. Were they the newer blades that form to fit...or traditional?

 

I gotta give a free plug to the RainX products.


I keep my windshield clean as much as possible and a good coat of RainX on all year long.
Reduces the need for wipers all around.
During light misting i still need them, but in heavy rain - forget about it.
No wipers necessary in a downpour.


...as far as blades go, I've been using BOSCH

 

I put Collanite on my windows.

 

Have some Goodyear blades on my son's truck. Got them at Costco.
They work great

 

I have this issue too but I have nice blades. I did not have this issue until I treated the window with RainX. I also treated the teflon blades with rainX as soon as I did this it made the wipers wobble from too much grip on the glass, its like it want to scrape off the top layer of glass. JOE>

 

You just explained my problem better than I did.. Thats my problem...Seems like too much grip. I thought about downsizing the blades. I am going to buy some Lattitude blades and some rain-x...I dont know what else to try.

I thought about going to the dealer and buying the blades. Stupid friggin problem to have though.

 

i too have this annoying problem. my truck was days old when i put those really nice michelin wipers on it. like 20 bucks a pop and had this problem. had the same problem in my subaru as well with various wipers, all high end. the only thing that is constant is the wiper fluid. i had been using the rain x fluid the entire time i had been having the problem. as soon as it runs out im going to switch to something different and see if it helps.

i think the additive in the rain x that puts the coating on the glass has something to do with the blade bouncing all over the damn place.

 

Bosch Icons are the best wiper blades I've found. Last longer than the Rain-X ones. I've got them on all my vehicles.

 

ya got me. seems to be the only parallel i can find within my shitty wiper situation.

 

Is your window dry? Mine will skip if the window isn't completely wet.

 

Nope...it was raining hard all day today...skippin like crazy.

 

I've got the Bosch blades and they work great! I can't remember what they're called but they're the equivilent of the Rain-X blades. I was going to go cheaper but Advanced Auto was running a deal on the Bosch, buy one get one 50% off. So far they work great!

 

I run Valeo blades. They are streak noise skip free and last several yrs. You can get them off tirerack dot com for 19.99 buy one get one free. About 26.00 shipped for the pair.

 

is it possible the wiper linkage is worn and causing the blades to skip?

 

Dude where ya been!!! Rep for the Mirror..... Actually the linkage is fine, its the windshield or the blades. Im going to buy some rain-x and some rainx latteral blades. Hopefully it works.

 

My 1984 Volvo with 265,000 miles did the same thing even with OEM wipers.
Pick up some Rain-X polish and also their windshield treatment. Follow the instructions on the polish, I did it several times and then apply the treatment. Wow what a change.
I used Rain-x products but I'm guessing you can use any glass polish. Hard to beat the Rain-X treatment though.
