MT is the only reason I traded my 17ORDC auto. If I traded fenders these guy on here would be making jokes about your truck instead of mine. I can handle the crap comments. I have grown to like it. Makes it easy to spot in a crowd.

Now I’m not saying your wrong and I’m definitely no expert but I assume that the reason Toyota says it’s not intended for water and for dust only, is so they don’t have some huge liability issue on their hands when people start using their trucks like a submarine because Toyota said it was ok (that’s how some would interpret or say they interpreted it that way so they don’t have to assume responsibility for trying to cross a lake!)o_O I would think that the intake has to be pretty darn waterproof and sealed up pretty good to deal with weather and rain or at least good enough for a quick submersion (if your hood is submerged for more than a couple seconds your floating down the river anyways, or sinking:eek:) That being said, I would think the TRD snorkel is as capable and very similar to any other snorkel out there? If it takes air from higher then it’s doing its job and not taking air from the top of the passenger wheel well (where water would come in from during a crossing) I could be totally wrong here but no way Toyota or any other truck manufacturer is going to say it’s ok to dunk it in water that’s deeper than a few inches or anything similar:p:cool:

Any way I could talk you into taking some close up pictures of how this bolts to the roof line, [front back and side and into the air cleaner duct work. I can buy you a beer or something !! I would much appreciate it... I asked if anyone on this site would do that but no takers as of yet.. Thanks, Tom

This is a correct assumption. The other data point is based on where the electronics are in tacomas, you'd brick the truck long before you were hood deep in a water crossing.

Depends on how long the door seals hold back the water, and whether or not you can maintain a bow wave.

About 1/4 in. up to the drain holes. Maybe 3/16.

I have a very big favor to ask of you !! PLEASE !!! Would be able to tell me how many bolts are holding your snorkel bracket to the roof line.. it's under the roof molding My bracket has 2 holes that secure it to the roof. In the kit I only have 1 rubber barrel bolt that looks like you need to use this. But there are 2 holes for the bracket..I don't think they use 2 sheet metal screws ? I OWE YOU BIG TIME IF YOU CAN..
    Thanks Tom
