Rub it in. Somewhere I have old pics of my 93 all over that mountain (on the roads). Before it was called R1 it was the "overland road".

I am relatively new on TW but have had 4 wheel trucks A LONG time now.
I do not rock climb/crawl but where I use my trucks I would absolutely LOVE to see the 2 track lanes as nice as the 1st picture! Or in pic #6! I just love it when one of the tenants moldboards one of the lanes.
And please no disrespect intended to anyone.

the first half is fine, a few places you have to get out and see if it'll scrape, but somewhere in the middle is where it got interesting, it started going up & up at this point with 3 point turn hairpins, those clouds in the photo caught up with us and started raining as we started a crazy ascent with soccer sized boulders and slick gravel. 4lo 1st gear and floor it, was impressed with the truck. In hindsight it could have been a piss poor decision on our side if things didn't go in our favor...

@Ainapo I bet camping up there was fun, you really need a whole weekend to do the trail without rushing. Throw in some hunting and you need a whole week! Is camping unrestricted up there? So many friggen rules now!!

Not true... there are plenty of better places on the big island other then someone’s driveway.

Exactly this... kid made a stupid post about an overinflated dirt road and then gets butt hurt because he doesn’t understand the meaning of the word gnarly. He also doesn’t understand there are more roads on the big island then the ones the news crew used to show lava flow on cnn.

And when I refer to moldboard plowing I hope I am thinking of the type of plowing that has the DEEP ravines between furrows!

All your pics are nice scenery! If you see my situations in during fall/winter/spring you'll see water, plowed/unplowed fields, a few 2 track lanes and some trees. Not difficult off-road situations, just muddy and messy (sometimes!!)
