Love when my contractors use diesel in red then ask me to pay them for non productive time due to "acts of God."

I live in the midcoast maine area, never had a problem with a plastic can... ever... other than them blowing up in the heat due to the crappy safety nozzles and if you go to an elevation of course you have to burp it..

 

Mainers must have a different definition of 'never ever', 'cause you just wrote what the judge sees as two problems.

 

mine stay in my bed, under my tonneau cover, under my bed rack, and RTT... its when theyre out in the open they blow up... dont be an ass..

 

Gasoline cans should be RED, cause MERICA.

 

Hope they release a purple can. or pink......

 

I use the black version and it's great. They really are quite sturdy. Obviously any can will swell and these are metal but they are made so well that it's never caused an issue yet. I also live in LA and we do get a lot of sun and heat more often than not. It also stays under my tonneau cover so I can't say anything about any discoloration from the sun. I checked out a few others before purchasing and read through all the comments and kept coming back to these.

If all they do is sit in the garage a plastic can is fine... if you actually travel with them, I’d never waste my time with a plastic can

 

I have no experience with Wavian cans. But a buddy of mine got a pair of Rotopax: one of them spilled half the gasoline contents between Los Angeles and Bishop. A 2-gallon Rotopax is like $70. You could track him down following the scent.

 

Where do these fall?

 

I have some of those and the nostalgia is great, but the seals are for shit. At least in my supply. Now they simply do lawnmower and implement duty.

 

I am gonna use them for my tractor.
I need to look at them, but maybe the Wavian replacement seals would fit?

I have a couple plastic "Scepter 5.3 gal. Military Style Diesel Cans" that have been sitting in the Arizona sun for over two years continuously. They've held up just fine. I use the EZ-POUR nozzles/caps, which have not held up as well in the sun, but do make it right to about 2 years before I need to replace.

I HAD a couple unknown brand metal containers and found those a) rusted at the lid hinges (yes, in Arizona) and b) the lid seals baked and leaked. I always thought the metal cans would be more durable, but in my experience the plastic ones have survived and remained usable much longer.

 

The colors are meant to indicate contents.
