If I didn’t know them I wouldn’t have done it! They had the plumbing underneath replaced 6 months ago, but the guys doing it didn’t even stub up for the ice maker

Took a break from my shop build today and put in a single paying day stint at my most recent job

Owner there made great use of some timber cut offs we had to made a Flintstone's bench

I was there to help my metal fabricator install the main driveway gate .

Gate is flush panel CORTEN steel

House numbers are custom backlit LED jobbies hooked to a photocell , I went there tonight to adjust light level

Had time to finally rebuild my back yard gate. The birds were old and weathered, it had a single gate latch on top of the gate that didn’t line up well, and there was room under the gate for rabbits to sneak under and get mamas plants. I added a concrete footer, welded in a door knob box, repainted the gate, and replaced the panels and sealed them with a deck stain. It kinda makes the wall around it look bad now.

Today was one of those bizarre, not noticable to anybody projects. Fucking flush mounted ceiling fans. Two ugly truths exist about flush mounted fans that nobody advertises: a) if they are even slightly off balance or out of tune, their incessant rattling will drive you batshit insane, and b) you can't replace or repair one without a complete disassembly. Before taking the cowl off to access the motor, the light and blades have to come down first.

So two fans got replaced, one of the replaced got rebalanced and demoted to the mud room. The mud room light got demoted to the garage. The other replaced fan got repaired and moved to the guest bedroom. The old guest bedroom fan got moved to the attic for spare parts. The master bedroom fan got taken apart, rebalanced, cleaned, and reassembled.

A crap load of work for not a lot of show, but at least all my fans are running silent and clean now.

Made a sidewalk and did some landscaping around our 400$ Walmart pool. Next up. Remove the deck and pour a patio. Replace the roof. Replace the rest of the windows. And about 30,000 other things.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
...^^^... My first home had a dirt crawl space with very limited headroom o_O and I had to do the plumbing and electrical down there ... and I had to clean the electronic air filter too.

I made maybe 20 or more trips under there and one day ... I met "MR. SNAKE under there  ... and it was not a good day as I HATE snakes.

Later, I fixed that crawl space door (like a fridge door) where an ant could not get in the crawl space. :)

    .....

PS ... My plumber buddy went into a small crawl space and started to go back out and saw a rattle snake on the metal termite plate over the door where he crawled in ...

    .....

Today ... I will NOT go into a small, dark, dirt, crawl space like that for ANYTHING ...

I pulled six bags of trash out of ours when we first bought the place. Then covered all the vents with grating and screen (from the inside), spray foamed all other openings and hvac vents.

I always hated dirty critter and spider infested crawl spaces.

Pre-spray foam and bending to conform to the joists.

Well....Light replacement fail take 2. I decided to buy a mounting block similar to what @Venom posted before drilling big holes in my shop. However, I apparently have dutch lap siding, so the mounting block I bought won't work. I've ordered a different mounting block, so I'll give it one more go before I start drilling. I also haven't been able to find a 3.5" or 4" hole saw locally.

On the productive side of things, I started clearing out the overgrowth behind the shop. It's a wall of 1-3" trees along with a few big trees mixed in. I didn't take any before photos, but I cleared from the little retaining wall on the right over to the downspout on the left and started going behind the shop on the flat. Before it was all like what is still there on the left side of the photos.

I also mounted this flower pot hanger to hang my fruit basket from.

    20200607_213454.jpg

I think I forgot to post it, but I bought gutter covers a couple of weeks ago and installed them on the farside of my shop. For whatever reason, every gutter on my house and shop had covers except for that run. I had cleaned it out late last year, but it was already full again and sprouting trees.

    20200524_172442.jpg

Finally, how do you adjust the gap on a garage door? The garage door on my shop has sizable gaps on both sides of it. Is it just a matter of loosening the bolts that hold the rail on the brackets and pushing it forward to close the gaps?

There are 3 or 4 brackets up each side before the track curves away from the wall. Here's a better photo.

If it’s a vinyl block u can cut the hole with a utility knife and/or tin snips.....the jagged edge -should- be covered by the flange on the light fixture.
Unless you have other reasons for buying a giant expensive hole maker lol
