As far as the a/c...my tundra sucked and this tacoma isn't a whole lot better. Imo, the only reason the tacoma is better is due to a smaller cab.

I read the small print. It was based on the 40mph frontal crash rating of ‘good’. My how times have changed.

If you have a 4Runner V8 4x4 don't sell it. You will regret it. I kept mine as it was paid off. Then bought the TRD OR 4x4. Different uses. BTW mine doesn't go through tires quickly. My KO2's still look like new after 12,000 miles.

I sold it, was a 2wd. That said, there was less weight and no front diff/axles. For an SUV it was a rocket. She will be missed.

The current 4runner has MUCH more low end. I don't have any issues with the power band in the 4runner and it gets about the same mpg as my truck did before tires and weight.

    I don't currently have a 4runner, but do have it's cousin, GX470. Nice Taco you've got there!

Thanks, you too. Looks like we like some of the same gear. The 4runner probably has 5 miles on it in the last 90 days. It has leather, so my dog doesn't get to ride in it (big dog and don't want holes), and the Tacoma just suits me better.

    Little bit of stuff.
We've got a small fleet of Toyota's and personally I have to say that our 05 V8 Runner is by far the most pleasing to drive on road, and that's in comparison to a 1st gen taco, an 01 Land Cruiser, and my 2nd Gen Taco.

I liked my gen1 tundra 4.7 to for long distance driving, while both trucks handle well i really miss the smooth ride opposed to the gen3 taco.

Test drive as much as possible before you get a 3rd Gen. I couldn’t live with one, personally.

I LOVE my 3rd taco. None of the Japanese manufacturers are as good as they used to be, and they openly admit it. Quality of materials, government regulations, current technology costs, MPG. All this equals lower overall quality.

Went from gx470 to 3rd gen and the only thing I miss is break over and departure angles....oh yeah and that v8 sound. V6s sound like doo doo

Once you go 33s on the 3rd gen the fuel difference is pretty negligible.

The 4Runner V8 definitely douse not eat up tires, I have KO2s with 65k and they still have at least another 20k miles In them! The A/c in the Subaru definitely sucks when it’s above 100 it barely douse anything even at highway rpm and not even close to the 4Runner, it’s worse then my old 94 22re pickup!
I just sold the Subaru, probably going to keep the 4Runner until I can find a used a tundra or F-150
