Interested how well it holds up. I probably need to do some more correction on Cupcake's Rav4 this summer, lot of small scratches

The HydroSlick had so-so reviews. I admittedly didn’t do as much research as I should have before I bought it. Some reviews were really good though, most said it was hard to apply, which I did not find to be the case. You’re supposed to apply, wait a couple minutes, then buff out the haze. Some reviews said it took a lot of work to buff out the haze but it went pretty quick for me. The V07 has pretty good reviews and was easy to apply. I did it all today because none of what I did was supposed to be done in direct sunlight. This morning was cool and overcast, perfect weather.

Finally getting to replacing the shed roof...this thing was a planter...and full of ants...LOTS of rot on the wood. They used staples to put the old roof on, had not paper underlay and installed the flashing wrong on 2 of the corners so they rotted...at least the staples made the demo easier..

    Morning all. Happy Monday...

It's amazing how many 'contractors' out there have no idea what the hell they're doing.

OMG is that hilarious! My boss is getting a new roof in a week so we just played this video and watched the whole thing. Being in construction we love seeing videos like this.

Odd question of the day, I see these videos of people ripping through water that is over the hood when they have snorkels. Does it not matter to have the exhaust under water? Can a vehicle run indefinitely with the exhaust under the water?

Theoretically, yes. Usually there's enough pressure from the exhaust to keep the water out, but if you're ass-end to the current then all bets are off. If you're talking about very deep water then the water pressure can overcome the exhaust, as well. I know that when the army was testing full-submersible kits for the WWII-vintage Deuces that they were piping the exhaust to the surface, or to a shallower water level, because of how rapidly pressure increases the deeper you go.

That’s diesel though, I would wonder if gas would do better forcing the exhaust out.

Well I can confirm that my truck runs for at least 4 or 5 minutes with the exhaust about a foot under the water. Just didn't know how bad it would be.

They had Jeeps that were part of the same test program and they also ran with a snorkel for the exhaust. I'll try to find a video for that one as well.

Yeah, if you're deep enough on a boat ramp to drown the exhaust you've already got considerably bigger problems.

Tell me about it. I had 20 feet of water IN FRONT of my FRONT WHEELS before the boat would float at this specific launch. Needless to say I will not be launching there again with my big boat.

Sounds like the lower launch on Sabattus Lake; it's literally just a sandy beach out into the water. People get stuck there pretty regularly because they have to get out into the soft stuff to load or unload. They'll get their boat on the trailer and then can't claw their way back to shore with the added weight pushing their trailer wheels down.

Yeah but... they're Jeeps... They need all the help they can get just to stay running so I'm calling that an invalid test. If anything, the water will help put out the spontaneous fires.
Oh, come on now, they make the best youtube videos!
There's a place like that on the NY side of Lake Champlain that's fun to watch. My uncle used to launch his little catamaran on the beach because the boat launch at this particular area is usually a cluster F. He had an old Jeep, big tires, aired down and a light catamaran. The beach was soft sand and a shallow slope so you had to get pretty far in even to get the hobi on the trailer. His Jeep did fine with it, same with a few other locals who have vehicles ready for the conditions and light boats but, there's always a few yahoos who see this, give it a shot and end up spending their afternoon waiting for a tow. It's in perfect view from the local bar also, free in house entertainment.
