I have three 285s to put on it in the meantime but I'm not confident wheeling with my twisty RCVs

Getting pretty tired of selling this Mercury Mariner and it’s only been up 18 hours. I’ve had two mothers ask me to “donate” it to them. I’ve been asked if I take payments, how much the vehicle costs, if I’ll take $1000, and all kinds of bs.

My only experience has been listing project cars and parts. Completely different selling a non-enthusiast car at this price point.

November. Diamond axle with a Toyota 8" diff and 3/4 ton Dana 44 outers in a full float setup. But I'm running 19 spline outers instead of 30 so they are weak.

When I broke the RCV in march it took out the spindle, lock nuts, wheel bearings, wheel hub...I put the spare in but it's already twisting and I'm living on borrowed time.

    Ahh that's right.

Meant that as a jab to Jeep parts in general.

I love XJs but their axles (stock) barely put up with a 33 when wheeling.

Be surprised how many Jeeps I see come in, Wranglers included, with twisted up axle shafts.

I mean, I broke a $400 Chromo shaft... but the 19 spline stuff is only rated for up to 35" tires, which I didn't realize. If I dropped $1100 on 30 splines they would warranty them up to 40" tires, but that money would buy a better axle in general

Since they may not be lying to you, tell them there are lots of charities and foundations and support for folks in her situation.
It's much more difficult to scam an organization, than it is to pluck a couple heart strings of a nice kind individual.
    Know what I mean?
I mean unless your conscience tells you different, of course.

It is very frustrating, for sure.

I used to grapple with that but I don't play games now. When they start asking questions I ask if they're ready to buy and when they're gonna come see it and they disappear. 95% less BS to field after that. The ones who do show up are serious.

Yeah that’s my take on it. Plenty of actual charities if she’s for real. Might just ignore this one. People get ugly when you tell them no on FB Marketplace.

My take on the ones that hem and haw about it after asking 1000 questions is that:
    • They don't have the money and they're hoping that you'll mention something to give them lowball leverage
    • They are in denial about actually wanting it and are just in fantasy land. "It would be nice BUT" they're not gonna let themself buy it

I usually price stuff at my bottom dollar and tell people I'm firm on the price. Usually have someone come and get it pretty quick

I have very little experience selling stuff online until I got my truck and started selling off old stock/aftermarket parts. Most of what I've sold, I've sold through here. And I've learned that the majority of the time people are going to come with less cash in hand than they said they would, unless it's someone I know "well" (lot of back/forth on the forum).

Usually when I'm selling stuff it's because it's taking up space in the backyard and my wife wants it gone so I let it go for whatever they brought in hand anyway lol.

Never sold a vehicle private party, always used them as a trade in.. but I imagine the higher you price something (like a car) the more BS you have to deal with.

    I won't touch FB marketplace with a 10ft pole

FB marketplace is a double edged sword. The barrier to entry and ease of use is better than CL for people who are not tech saavy. But, more interest means more BS, in general.
