Nothing crazy... I’m not rock crawling. Some trails through the woods, in the snow, maybe desert ... where ever the Army takes me I find the outdoors.

    thanks for the insight

I have the Nittos on my Tahoe - have had no issues in the snow and rain on the road...they slip a bit in the mud (around our farm) - but on the road they are fine. My son has Duratracs (33") on his 2002 Tacoma 4x4...he LOVES them - they are very roadworthy and around the farm they are spectacular. They are great tires. I actually considered them when I bought new tires for my Tacoma a couple of months ago. I ended up going with another set of the Stock Kevlar Wranglers...I know everyone hates them, but I've had no issues at all - and I got a set of 'take offs' (new truck buyer wanted a set of KO2s) for $475. I drive a lot - around 40K-50K per year and a LOT in 4 wheel drive - around our farm. The Duratracs were just more rough and for me it was not worth changing - especially considering the price I got for my tires.

I am leaning Goodyear. All my years in the tire shop I was a BFG and Yokohama guy. I’m up for trying something new. Ultimately I will let the pole decide... please vote! Haha

You'll love 265/75/16 "C Load" Duratracs. (Not nearly as loud as they look)

Best "rain rating", and 3 peak snow designation make them an ideal winter tire too.

The Goodyear tire, Toyota should have put on an Off Road Taco, not those stupid Kevlar Highway tires...

good luck - I debated a lot when I bought new tires recently too...then a friend of mine (who owns a tire store ironically) said: you buy new tires every 12-13 months - just try them all! When my dealership let me get another set of the Kevlars for 475 (it may have been 450 - they gave me my military discount too)...it was simple.

I've had Duratracs for about 6000 miles, but the C load 265/75r16. They've been great off-road in deep sand but haven't had them in significant mud or snow. They are louder than stock, but I used to drive as soft top jeep with mud tires that was way louder. They do wander a bit between 60-70 mph depending on the road surface. I've tried different pressures to minimize it but it's still there. I don't have much choice in this size for a c load or I might go a different direction. Not sure

    A) Rolling mass will have bigger impact than a 31/32.5 diameter.
    B) Duratracs get loud if rotations aren't maintained every 5k
    C) Duratrac in D-load is lighter than some other manufacturers C-load.
    D) Thus far I've used KO2s (current), Duratracs (Xterra), General Grabber ATx, and Cooper AT2/3
    E) Will either be using KO2s again, Cooper AT3/XLT (lighter even though an E), or likely Wildpeak AT3W in C next time.

I love the Mt look. I like the Yokohama, KM3, and the Cooper STT pro. I considered it... still leaving my options open for that cooper. I almost put the Yokos on my ‘19 OR but they didn’t fit. So I got a deal on Trail Grapplers in a 265/70-17 (like crazy deal- my old shop) so I went with them. Mom actually rocks them on her ‘20 sport now.

Rotation not an issue. Discount tire is awesome about all that. If I am honest with myself I will only have them on for 25-30k miles before I get bored.

so you didn’t like the Duratracs? What about mass now? You talking overall weight? Yea I’m trying to stay out of a LRE.

I've run both. The Ridge Grapplers are quieter but the Duratracs far outperform them (especially in the snow) and in all of the type of off-roading I do.

What size Duratracs do you run and have yours started wandering? I know others have mentioned that they wander but sometimes you just have to accept it with more aggressive tread. My wandering comes and goes.

I’ve owned the duratracs in e rating, KO2 in e rating, and currently on the nittos ridge grappler in e rating and I have to say nitto seems like the winner to me. Rides soft and smooth, doesn’t make a lot of noise and isn’t super heavy. Duratracs were heavy but they LAST. I had 35k on them and they still looked brand new. My KO2’s, meh, they sucked.
Keep in mind the duratrac is more of an MT tire, while the ridge grappler is an AT so is more severe terrain the duratrac can/probably will outperform the ridge grappler.

HEy all, forgive me for being naive on tire stuff but I have asked several folks for advice and I think I should just ask here.... I do not particularly want to change out my rims I think they are the fuel maverick 17x9's. On them right now are Toyo M/T 285/70/17 and they rub no matter what I do. I have new suspension (Bilstein 6100/5160), SPC LR UCA's, OME Dakar leaf pack), I have done the CMC, I have done a lot of trimming. These tires still rub and it's driving me crazy. People have suggested I have the alignment shop mess with the UCA, I have gone in twice and they've told me alignment is good and theres no reason to adjust the UCA to help with the rubbing.

What I would like to do is purchase some new tires that won't rub, but fit on the same rims. I am thinking with the fuel mavercisk -12 backspacing that it is the width that is the problem so any suggestions for same height but skinnier? I am familiar with the brands so I don't need a specific tire recommendation, but a size recommendation would be extremely helpful.

Where is it rubbing? I have a 4runner but still kinda the same amount of wheel well space. I have 17x9 wheels as well on 295’s and I got a big BMC, SPC UCA’s, trimmed the front bumper and I only have rubbing on full lock/flex in reverse on the pinch weld.

It's still rubbing the CMC (the paint has come off) and on the outer portion of the front fender well where I could trim more but I am waiting on my bumper anyway, and on the pinch welds and I'm reluctant to hammer those down. I have sliders, a front bumper, and skids to put on as well so the truck is going to have more weight to it. I think I'm on the 5/4 setting on the bilsteins right now too.

that seems to be the consensus... RG smoother and Dura perform better. Please vote... I think I am leaving it to the thread haha

    You mean Bilstein 6112?
I just ordered Billies 6112/5160 and I am not anticipating an issue with a 285/70-17 fitment. I have 285/70-17 on now (Pmetric RG) with a 2” RC spacer and they fit fine.

I will say that MT have significantly more tread than an AT... usually a few 32nds but that can make all the difference.
