Hey Dave and anyone with some ideas, I'm doing my best to overthink the process of installing a solar panel between my Plano boxes. Getting rid of one might be an option, but I have so much crap in them, I'd rather keep both.
Anyways, I'm pretty sure that with some finessing around, I can fit one of those between the cases https://www.amazon.com/Renogy-Monoc...ZF944MGJ5HK&psc=1&refRID=7674RGNBWZF944MGJ5HK but as mentioned before, cases would cast some shadow over the panel. So.... I was thinking, what if I would mount the panel on some kid of a scissor lift? Something kinda like this one? https://www.monoprice.com/product?p...tsRuCmA-fFTzpfkTF5mUgnD5I3fGLCLkaAm55EALw_wcB Or maybe there is something like that, but akchuly designed to be mounted horizontally and outside.
    Thoughts??

Im not sure. I saw something about a vehicle specific solar panel for the hood. But it was an outrageous price like $700.

What if you put both maxtrax on one plano, and put the solar on top of the other plano. That way it can over hang, and not cover anything. There also isn't anything that says you have to get that panel. Try looking for a different slimmer panel

Thanks bud. I guess it was just a silly idea. While looking around that's one of the slimmer panels for the price, but we'll see. Also, I don't think hinges on Plano can withstand weight of two Treds.

They're not that heavy? I saw someone put a gas strut on a plano. Maybe you could do that?

I had thought about making the switch in the past but seems silly to swap it out when the current stuff works perfectly fine. If it ever breaks, I'll use it as an excuse to change it.

ok good point. I was just reading the thread about troubleshooting the 4x4 actuator, and getting side tracked

David come help me take my cap off so i can smack my bedside with hammers. I’ve decided replacing it or having a body shop fix it is pointless because I’ll just damage it again if i hit my bumper hard again.

Sure. I bought the FJ case for $300 and sold my Taco t-case for $250. Should have went that route from the start of my conversion and skipped trying to rig up an electrical system without the 4wd ECU.

after having had actuator issues for 6 months and eating 3 actuators in the process i highly considered a stick swap

but then on the other hand, now its been 24 months problem free...

im torn myself, when the system works it is 100% perfect and flawless, but then that whole what if shit argument so idk.

i know one thing for sure though is i hate having dials rendered useless, so if you go with a stick swap then you gotta get a pre runner dash panel to delete the 4wd dial hole...

since you dont have a s/c and cant boot a boost gauge in the vacant hole :boink:

I really wanted the FJC tiltmeter and temp gauge. But now that I put an old man dashmat on, I cant have it. I really miss having a temperature gauge.

i like the dash mat, i have wanted one for some time now as well

having those up on the roof by the sunglass holder wouldn't be a bad spot

i nominate you to build a nice plug and play overhead console, many have tried not sure how many have succeeded :pccoffee: :tumbleweed:
