So I did the steering clunk fix yesterday, well worth it! Question...noticed going to work this morning that two of my instrument cluster lights are out; the far right light (gas guage and speedo) and the far left light (temp guage and tach). I pulled the dash tonight and neither of the bulbs are burnt out. Is there a fuse for these two lights? Doesn't seem likely. Everything else is fine. Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure what all the "steering clunk fix" involves, but you may have knocked something loose.

Figured it out...sorta. Pulled the dash again and jiggled everything in sight. Turned on lights and voala. Sorry guys, shoulda tried harder before starting a new thread! Anyhow, can't believe the difference the "clunk mod" made in my truck. A true pleasure to drive on highway and shitroad now!

No you cannot weld it while its in the truck. Follow the steps you'll be fine....the pictures make it look worse than it is. Take pictures as you go and make notes if your real worried about it.

the writeup is very well written and it explains what to do quite clearly. anybody could do this mod even without a mechanical background.

And I just took the whole thing apart again today because I thought I had installed it crooked since the wheel wasn't straight (turned out to be from the steering rack bushings). I had it out, figured out that it is not possible to mess it up, and all back together in like 20 minutes. Way easier the second time around.

glad you got it figured out OP.
