First off I know the lights will turn off automatically when I turn my truck off and don't even bother wasting time saying "Just leave the lights on all the time."

What I would like to know is there an easy way of getting the auto on/off setting that uses the light sensor on the dashboard?

Either yes it can be done with plugging in a sensor and replacing the stalk that currently has DRL in place of Automatic or no it requires a new ECU for that feature to work.

I would like to know this as well. Leaving the headlights on all the time doesn’t work for me. It dims the infotainment display too much even at max brightness for nighttime.

On my '16 SR5 I added the sensor and it's wiring and although the sensor showed a reading in techstream and the dash dimmer responded to the sensor the headlights themselves did not. I even tried swiping the stalk for one with the Auto labeling, still no response from the headlights. At least I did get the benefit of not having the dash dim with the headlights on in the daytime. I went though all the settings I could find in tech steam too and still could not get the headlights to respond. A TRD model which has auto headlights as an option might work but I can't confirm this as I never tried on my '17 or my '20. Both TRD Off Road models.

There’s a day mode on/off option for the display. It changes the brightness. Give it a try. Good luck.

I had no idea that existed because the option shows up only when the headlights are turned on and I usually only play with my settings during the day. This is perfect, thanks!!
