Did you read the article? Just because the media just now got wind of it doesn't mean all of a sudden the shit is going to hit the fan. The NCAA and the SEC has known about this since July.

I really doubt he would have been eligible to play at all if Auburn did anything wrong here.

 

YES! I read the whole article twice!! I said "MAY BE in a world of shit!!" MAY BE being the key words there...It's a pending investigation & when the investigation concludes AU & Cam MAY BE in a world of shit...

 

This is ancillary to the story at hand, but I found the quote below from the article interesting. Auburn wasn't even Cam's SECOND choice for college.

I think people are missing the fact that Auburn isn't accused of doing anything wrong here.

 

I think you can blame Reggie Bush for all of this. If he hadn't screwed up given back his Heisman, people wouldn't be so reluctant to give a Heisman to somebody with a cloud over his head. I think they just don't want another situation where the trophy is returned/vacated down the road.

If I were a Heisman voter on the fence b/w Cam and somebody else, this would push me away from Cam. If I were dead-set on Cam before, I don't know that it would change my opinion w/o any proof that he did wrong.

Nobody is accusing Auburn of any wrongdoing, but they didn't have to do anything wrong for this to be a big problem for them. If Cam or Cam's family did something wrong and he's determined to be ineligible now or well down the road, Auburn's season is toast.

If it is all true I would think they would. Yesterday at a press conference Chizik said Cam Newton is eligible to play at Auburn University. That's all he said. This came out back in the summer and nothing came of it. Of course the media loves scandals so they bring it out now when Auburn is doing well. Espn broke the story, The New York times jumped on it naturally. The company that owns The New York times also owns The Tuscaloosa News. Hmm thats strange. Sounds like a smearing campain to me since the writers for the new york times that jumped on the story graduated from the University of Alabama. Who really knows the truth. The NCAA will find out and IF Cam is guilty of anything then heads are gonna roll at Auburn. Seems to me though its alot of smoke about nothing. JMHO

 

Auburn, the SEC, and the NCAA has known about this since July. He would not have played at all if his eligibility was in question. See: UNC players, Marcel Dareus, etc.

People are blowing this up since the article was released yesterday.

 

Thats what sucks. It hurts Auburn. For example, Got a text from a buddy of mine that lives in Michigan stating "Well looks like Auburn has a QB controversy". Had to tell him the whole story then he said oh well it's nothing then. But the truth is whatever happens Newton and Auburn will be hurt in the long run. I hate the media!

 

Why is this coming out now? Thats my question. Lets face it guys...this happens..ALOT! I think if it is true that they would be smarter than to leave a paper trail. Cash only. If they can't prove it then it's just he said she said. I personally don't believe it. Auburns staff has been cleared, so there is no investigation into Auburn. Too me it seems like the Rogers guy is being investigated more than anything, but IDK. My personal opinion is that Mullen is still pissed that he didn't get the golden goose, and now Meyer is angry that he let him go. It was actually Meyers idea to get it out to the media. The Newtons have released their financial info as well as Cecils church's financing info. If they haven't found anything by now I don't know if they will. This is going to hurt his Heisman campaign, even if he is found to have done nothing wrong...human factor. I hate to see this happen. I don't think Cam would burn his second chance. I've met the guy and he seems genuine about living the life of an, "Auburn Man" and hes a hell of a nice guy who got caught up in something he didnt understand. The guy bought a stolen laptop and for some reason people think he stole it...he left, did amazing things at Blinn and now hes on his second chance and I don't think he would screw it up. Just my 2 cents.

What is hardly being mentioned is that Kenny Rogers, the one who allegedly "shopped" Cam, is under investigation in the NFL for misrepresenting himself to players. Dude is a scumbag. These are 2 former Miss. State players.
