yeah I want to toy around with the bike tonight, since it's raining again today lol, and that's one of the plans. I've been doing a house remodel so usually if the weather keeps me inside I'm doing that crap.

I have little hands so I need the right positioning

Yeah definitely play with it until it’s somewhere you feel comfortable. Brakes feel is probably the most important thing for me tbh

yeah I'm still learning, but seeing as how I just learned the term "reach adjustment" today....I didn't know where to begin haha.

so thank you TW for teaching me that terminology!

The Guide R are not great ( in my experience). When I had those I would get them set up, then 20 min. into a ride they would feel completely different. Seemed to change how they felt as they heated up/cooled down. Brakes are the one thing I won't compromise on, I run XTR Levers with Saint 4 pots now.

I'm sure they aren't, they are SRAMS lowest Guides right? I know I'm on an "entry" level full suspension...but that's how I learn what I like and don't like. I'll know what I want to upgrade to when the time comes!

I tell you what. A coworker and I stole the tiny hands out of a Handemonium game and have a challenge to see who can get each other to break first when we sneak them into meetings, etc. Its a wild way to break up the monotony of a slow meeting.

I had similar experiences with several sets of Guides (no clue which version). Between the inconsistent feel/performance and 3 or 4 warranty claims for faulty seals, I bid farewell to SRAM brakes.

Absolutely right. FWIW, Shimano brakes are easier/cheaper to bleed too.

I haven’t ridden new sram stuff but back when they made them under avid they were also shit haha. When shimano came out with that new generation of brakes a couple years back they were the best thing ever. I’d like to try Shimano’s new 4 piston stuff

Had to pull over for a photo op at the top of Loveland Pass. Hauled the rigs up to Fruita last weekend for a CO staycation.

Is it still Lord of the Flies out there? A few of my local buddies refuse to go to 18 Road any more because of the mad house influx of people

Meh wasn't too bad when we went, granted it was my first timeout to Fruita lol so I don't have anything to compare to... The 18 Road parking lot got progressively busier on Sunday, but we didn't really have any issues running into anyone else on the trail.
