Geico, I live in Louisiana and this state has one of the highest auto insurance in the nation. Full coverage right at $1800/year.

    ETA: I meant a $0 deductible comprehensive policy.:frusty:

Right. So get the same windshield without it and add your own. There's nothing magical about their mount

    I'm with State Farm.

Thanks. Yea, that's a bit high. Here it is based on where you live in proximity to the city of Baltimore and your age. I am old and live in the country so ours is reasonable but I would like to not have to worry about a windshield replacement cost or a high deductible for one. Most of the damage here occurs in the winter and spring because of the amount of salt they use in the winter and the propensity of it to include a lot of petrified clumps of salt and gravel. Sux.

Going from a comprehensive $500 deductible to $0 dollar deductible will be about $5 extra per month, probably less... So whether you pay monthly, quarterly, or annually, do the math, it's CHEAP to have comprehensive with a $0 deductible and never have to worry about your windshield again. And your rates WILL NOT go up, unless you start filing claims for a new windshield every other month.

I use to live and work in Maryland/DC, I also had Geico insurance and was floored by how much of a difference between LA and MD rates where.

The total bill for my replacement at Safelite yesterday, including re-calibrating the camera was $821, but I only had to pay my $100 deductible.

I was told by the safelite rep that i wouldnt need a recalibration seens i was getting an OEM windshield. Now this was just the rep not even the tech but i hope i dont have to take another day just for them to recalibrate it.

Not even bad lol, I just did a back glass on a e60 m5, 3800 otd

But back on topic you don't need oem glass, Pilkington and ppg are oem equivalent. Any glass shop can get either or. Its the cheap ones like benson or kyg I would stay away from because the fit isn't so good and it can mess your lane departure system up even with a re calibration.

If you’re gonna have to pay the $500 no matter what, imo id put oem glass from the dealer. Even though safelight and the mom and pops can get glass made by the same companies as oem, it’s not the same quality.

Yes and i wont be able to see outside at night. There is a post here that some guy tinted the windshield with 5% and in my opinion thats not something that i would do.

Safelite reached out and said it would be about the same price as the dealer but i could get it done at home so that helps me out. But i will make sure it is OEM and has the markings that OEM glass does

They more than likely can not get the oem glass with the Toyota markings. They’ll be able to get the some maker. Keep us posted I’m curious if they can actually get the glass with factory markings.

Just thought I'de throw this out there, for those with aftermarket windshield, if any of you have extended warranty or are still under original warranty. At Ford if there is any issue with the sensors that mount to the glass and look through it we will say it's an aftermarket windshield and you will need to pay for an OEM windshield before we do any warranty diag. I've only seen the issue twice now with aftermarket windshield but since were a dealer if you get us to replace glass we use OEM and have a glass company put it in.
