I'm stoked for anything. Just so excited for this trip! I hope I'm not super out of my element or beyond my skill level.

haha I know I'm going to learn a lot, and most likely eat some shit...I just don't want to hold you all back or be a burden on the ride.

You'll be fine. Just make sure you download the trailforks app and then the NC map pack so you can always turn back if you want.

I'd expect to be out of your comfort zone some. The best way to really improve is to challenge yourself and ride with others above your skill level and on terrain beyond your current abilities.

Thats one of the reasons I'm pumped this trip is on calendar again, and hopefully will continue to be. I will absolutely acknowledge that there is tons of room for growth and improvement in my own capabilities.

I've got the trails on trailforks, and I'm pretty good at navigation lol. I'm promising to myself to really push and learn, but I gotta survive day 1 to ride day 2 lol

Yeah, @stronghammer it's not YOU holding US back. It's just a group ride with eveyone at different levels. You may be at the slower end up the spectrum, but @honda50r will probably be waiting for all of us to catch up(being a guide I expect he is a stud). We will all put in the miles that we can, and all crack a beer at the end of each ride.

thanks fellas, I am excited to learn and ride with you guys. I fully expect to be in last place, just don't want to be like 20-30mins in last place where y'all are like "damn this guy dead?" haha

You’ll be fine haha. Just bring plenty of food and water to keep energy. Take it easy and keep an eye on the trail. I’m trying to remind myself it’s not a race cause that’s when I fuck up, especially riding blind.

When I first started riding Pisgah, it could be a little soul-sucking. You need to keep a good attitude or it can mess up your day. @113tac is right though, plenty of food and water is key, gotta keep your strength up. Hot lately too so may want to consider some added electrolytes or something.

so I usually ride with a 1.5L pack of water on my back, and a gatorade on the bike for electrolytes as needed. That's held me over for a full day of riding, and since we were going to go out for lunch possibly or even just by the camp I can refill as necessary. Usually take 1-2 cliff bars, or some trail mix with me as well.

Hoping this swamp-fest will break before the trip. Wife and I went out and rode Bent Creek last weekend. Finished 1.5 L hydration pack plus a small water bottle. Ate a banana and some gummy bears along the way. Glad to have cold drinks, some sammies, and a Tasty Cake cupcake at the end.

Hot as the Devil's Buttcrack. I just bought a new fan for the tent in prep for this trip. I rode Bent Creek, Black, and Pisgah last weekend. Trails were in great shape.
