    Beauty!

I got this one off a rock point in March (the 3rd or 4th time I had visited the lake):

Good luck! Hopefully it works. Who knows, maybe you start making a couple here n’ there and folks like me start putting in orders for a nice rod to be built by you. Lol

Not quite the Grady-White I’ve had my eye on, but it’ll do for now. First fishing trip in the morning...

Swapped over my Humminbird to the driver side previous owner before my family for some reason put it on the passenger side on a swing out RAM arm. While it was fine I found it annoying and inconvenient when trying to navigate to keep squinting across the boat to see the chart. This is mounted on a RAM ball and arm. It should be much nicer for driving around finding spots.

Went to the Russian River yesterday and caught a couple pikeminnow. A lot of work wading the river for only a couple non-desirable fish, but still better than being inside.

Hit the SF Ferry area in Oakland yesterday, got a couple of bites but whatever it was broke both our lines. Same thing happened to my buddies the day before. Nessy is down there somewhere.

Just got back from San Leandro Bay, caught a big ray. Yes they pull like freight trains. What did you have for bait Jay? Did your pole just bend over no big shakes? Def some big bahama mama rays in the estuary...

15 lb braid. Apparently way too small!

Bent over and took all my line with a quickness. I'm going back soon to get that fucker.

Ok I think I’m done with the Intex inflatable kayak game. My other inflatable kayak had another hole over the weekend. Happened when I went to air it up. Almost like the heat makes the material super soggy/loose and it becomes weak. I’m hard on my stuff anyways, so probably best I avoid inflatable ones moving forward.

Time for me to start using the hard-plastic kayak.

Yeah I’d definitely move up in lb test forsure. Braid doesn’t stretch either, so definitely can break off quickly if it’s lighter line and there’s something pulling you to the moon.

the wind kept me away last weekend. Hoping to get out this weekend and go fish. Bought some more plastics and worms to try, may try to throw a wacky rig set up but will keep the tried and true ned on stand by.

If I could only use one bait/technique the rest of my life, it would be the ned rig. You said it best... tried and true. It honestly doesn’t even make sense to me how well it catches fish... big/small, any species, doesn’t matter. If the bite is slow, I’ll switch to a ned and almost always get one or two fish on it.

I’ve been trying to get better at plastic swimbaits. So far this season on plastics I’ve caught 812 lbs of seaweed, 46 rock snags, and ONE foul hooked stingray.

my brother and dad both have told me they stopped catching fish when they switched away from worms.

....after my latest success with the ned :anonymous:
