My 2020 Pro with a build date of 10/19 does NOT work once it meets and obstacle.

Tested mine up a mild incline on a dirt/gravel road yesterday. Even drove it over a few large rocks. No issues. Was a bit too slow a few times, but I just gave it a little nudge on the gas pedal. Never shut off on me.

I think that's what the issue is... mine doesn't cut off on me either... works great going up and down hills... but once it reaches any sort of obstacle or resistance it just stops and doesn't automatically apply the throttle needed to overcome the obstacle. The crawl control on my 2016 4Runner Trail & 2019 Landcruiser overcome the same obstacle with ease that the tacoma gets stuck on.

No fix yet, another member has a regional tech scheduled in July to have a look at his truck. Seems some function as expected and some it function but not as expected.

I was perusing through the factory service manual. Has anyone with issues performed the crawl control calibration in the manual with with a techstream or jump wire? It seems to be mostly for calibrating the actual switch so may not fix this problem, but it's worth a long shot.

You found one video on a site with a myriad of posts saying they had issues climbing hills with it.

Your talking about the zero point calibration. The procedure manipulates the CC switch. The switch is just a switch with open / close contacts. I have not found any clues yet on what this calibration does in terms of the function of CC. It is worth a shot but I do recall the 2020 needs the cable, pin jumping is not an option.

I was looking at older versions that had a check wire option. Only thing I could think of is it doesn't recognize the switch range at all and doesn't up the chooch past minimum. I guess for those of you that have this issue, does the set speed increase as it should with your switch? If that's happening I guess it's calibrated and I'm back to thinking a too low tune parameter in the skid control ecu.

Yes thanks for clearing that up for our buddy. I’m not refuting that some guys got problems. Mine works great. Especially climbing hills.

2017’s got extra powerful crawl control maybe? I dunno.

my 17 plows through everything.... maybe toyota neutered the CC on the 2020 for "safety".... youre a helluva lot more likely to roll your truck with a computer forcing it up the hill with no regard to pitch and roll than with one that hands YOU control at the slightest elevation change

I’m taking mine in this month on the 20th for it’s 5K mike check over. I’ve notified them of the non-working CC. We’ll see what happens.

2020 PRO, build date 09/19. All good on crawl control, started on slowest setting and progressed to fastest. Hitch was dragging on grade transition, kept on going with no input from me on the accelerator pedal.

If you're willing, try the unofficial test - chocking all 4 tires with 4x4 wood blocks.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
Look at it this way, the pre-20's took it for the team with creaky leafs, leaky diffs, transmission shifting issues, leaky third cab lights, rusty frames... etc. The least we can do is deal with whimpy CC for the remaining years in this generation. Hope they resolve this (I'm sure it'll be an ecu or TCM update) after they get enough people pushing for it.

I was able to go up an 8 inch curb with CRAWL. 2020 built in Mex 11/19. 1st time in 4Lo/Crawl, the was a pretty loud event.
