Deaver J66 Gouging Shock Shaft

    So my 2nd Gen has what i think is a pretty common build, but for this post I'm gonna focus on the rear. In the rear I'm running the Deaver J66 leaf springs and OEM 2.0 King socks w/ RR. In the attached picture you can see that the bolt on the leaf pack gouges the shock shaft when compressed. Was something not installed correctly or does this aftermarket combo just not work well together? Also, side question for anyone running the J66 or able to answer this. My bak end is a bit stiff I feel. It bucks a lot on whoops (or speed bumps lol) so I'm assuming it's a compression problem, but I'm leaning more toward the fact that the 10-ply might just bee too much right now. The leaf pack sits pretty flat tbh and I'm assuming thats the problem. I like the lift it gives the rear but idk if its worth all these other problems.     Flip the bolt and put the bolt head on the shock side...

    I was considering doing that but it will only save me a fraction of an inch. It will still hit due to the head of bolt.

    The only other options I see are different shocks or a BFH and bend the bracket over for clearance.

    Mods are currently being changed .....
    First time I've seen that happen! I'm not familiar w/ King shocks. I know a lot of people have them, but....is the diameter of the shock body significantly larger than others? Like you mentioned, maybe its the combo of the king/j22. It's hard to believe it'd be the Deavers b/c I thought a bunch of people had them installed. So maybe the ones that have them are running shocks w/ a smaller shock body to clear them? Or just not compressing them enough to have run across this yet.

    It's a 2.0 shock body. I believe it's a pretty standard size.

    with the angle the shaft is going, I think it'll stilll hit just higher up. It might be worth a shot but that still doesn't fix the flat leaf problem

    J66s are meant for super light prerunners. A cooler will flatten them out.
