So I ended up with a like new 2012 R-Vision Trail Lite. Nice trailer and it pulls nicely! I brought it back in 25 mph winds w/out the WD hitch hooked up. Meh... not bad! Tongue weight of about 350#. This leaves me plenty of room for my KTM in the bed. Thanks for the insight! Dropping it to 3rd on the grades had me keeping up with traffic at around 55. Good enough!

Do you all think a aux. trans cooler is ness.? Big passes in the NW.

 

Aux trans cooler absolutely. If yours already has one get a larger one

 

Does anyone tow with a HC rear bumper or is that a no go because most/all are not rated due to liability issues?

We are actually looking at this exact same camper. How did your Tacoma do pulling it?

 

On regular flat ground, perfect! I think it was a great choice for me and the family. Towing uphill on steep climbs can still be challenging though. So we have the Sierra National Forest nearby where I live in Fresno, CA, HWY 168 takes you there. Researching around, it has one of the steepest climbs in CA. Climbing up a specific spot called the "4-lanes" there was a lot of slow driving in third gear. Right now I'm on 35s and 4:56 gears. I think I'll be looking to change to 4:88s next year when I have some extra cash and will be changing out the trans aftercooler to a larger one here very soon.

considering buying a boat ant the weights are cutting really close to my limit
here's the data
Boat weight 3970
trailer 1275( double axle) 1100 (single axle) I prefer double for safety
truck curb weight 4445
full tank of gas truck 21 gal = 126lbs
boat with full tank of gas 47 gal = 282
combined truck, boat and trailer full of gas is 10103lb
I would not be towing the boat long distance with a full tank but I haven't added the extra weight of people and luggage

Gross combines weight limit for my truck is 11360

I would add WDH and brake controller + tranny cooler

Is this even possible or would I be risking ruining the truck and causing accidents ???

 

04 DCSB 2.7liter here. The parts manual shows under "towing options-fan fluid coupling" a p/n 08921-04950. The standard fan coupling is p/n

16210-75111. I would like to know the difference between these two. I suspect the one under towing options provides better cooling. Does anybody know?

 

I have a 2016 sport DCSB with a MT. I am planning a cross-county move with a 6x12 enclosed trailer from Uhaul. The trailer is rated for 4,400 lbs but I'm hoping to be under that. I was thinking about putting another 600-800 pounds in the bed but based on what I've read that might be too much. With the trailer at 4,400 lbs, the tongue weight should 440 lbs, correct?
Also, can anyone with the MT comment on how it pulls? Thanks

 

I have done some research on the TrailManor trailers. They are awesome and new the prices will give you sticker shock.

Be really careful and inspect thoroughly ones that are more than 10 years old. They tend to leak quite a bit at the seams where they pieces join.

I had a buddy buy a 2006 TrailManor 2720SD. It was a awesome trailer but it leaked like a sieve. He had to replace all the weather sealing.

I mean that is to be expected as it's 14 years old. But just beware =)

 

We love ours. You cant beat the towing ease and gas savings. I get 16mpg ave towing on the hwy. Maybe 1mpg worse then our previous Jayco pop up. Not to mention it fits in our 20ft driveway but is 27ft when at the campsite and opened up. Ours is a 2011 same as my truck. We bought it in 2016 for $16k. I've had to add a little caulking on a couple seams but only in a couple areas I observed on inspection. Never had any leaks on the inside. Just about any trailer is going to have a few leaks on the seams after 10 years. posting these again since you mentioned TM's

 

been looking at campers and saw this, went to their website. i loved it until I saw the 2 piece swing tongue/hitch. Why? just one more thing that could fail. Have you had any issues with yours?

 

The simple reason for that is to reduce its length by two feet. So when you swing the tongue it's 18ft and if it wasn't for that it would be too big for our driveway. It can be stored in a garage that way. There's now way it would fail. It's all 1/4" steel plate overlap with 3/4" solid steel pins on each side. The way it works is you rest the front of the trailer on jackstands then pull one pin and swing the whole tongue 180 deg. It's an option I believe so not all will have it but probably most? Some boat trailers have that. msg me if want to see close up pictures of it.

 

So can I get the green fan clutch (towing fan clutch) that will replace the orange one on my 2002 Tacoma (3.4 L) if so where do I order it. Thanks Jim

 

Wow that’s a long trip! We took our epro for its first trip with the new Tacoma Limited on approx 1200 mile round-trip last week. I don’t know if we’re just used to our old Tundra but it seemed like the Tacoma was working hard and also having to keep it in 4’th just doesn’t seem right , we had sore arms & shoulders from holding it on the road too.
We started looking at upgrading to another Tundra but I really don’t want to have to do that
Any thoughts?
