He switched it up to Columbia. It's the same distance for me but closer to 95 for him. He's on his way to visit in-laws in FLA.

So.....is there a decent, non ghetto place in Columbia or Naw? I've been there once.
No offense to my Columbia peeps.

Stick close to 77 just off Harbison Blvd or off Assembly Street in downtown, it’s close to the interstate too.

Anything downtown should be good. Stay away from the airport and the north side of the city. Plenty of places off garners ferry rd that are newer and should be fine. Plenty nearby as far as restaurants and such. Just depends on what they want. You can pm with any questions you/they might have.

I was thinking somewhere around that riverbank zoo and garden. It looks nice. But it's kinda north.

He's getting on 20 at Florence and coming west into the city. I was kinda hoping somewhere around 20 and 26.
The "OL" in Columbia is about where the zoo is.

Then he can just head down 26 and get right back on 95.

Might be easier for him to go to Harbison Blvd. 20 to 26 north and it’s like 2 exits up. It’s the next biggest area besides downtown itself. Would also be easier for you and he can just jump back on 26 south and head back to 95.

Any interstate driving between major cities is boring.

I drove from Charlotte NC to Dallas TX in one day, and there isn’t really shit between ATL and Dallas. It’s all just flat af and nothing to see.

Tell the dude to grab a cheeseburger basket from Rush’s. Make sure he orders a large drink too. He won’t be disappointed.

Shaw stands for Stay Here A While. So enjoy Scumpter buddy! :D

This just shows what an idiot I was when I was younger. My first duty station was supposed to be Eglin AFB. But, like an idiot, I swapped with a fellow airmen to go to Shaw. Thinking it would be nice to be close to home. Plus he was from the Ft Walton Beach area. Getting to Sumter I realized a lot of the civilians seemed to hate us. Even though the base is probably at least half of the economy of Sumter. I could have been scuba diving on the Gulf Coast....but NOOOOOOO, I had to be a moron.
