But why keep it? If you were to put it back on, you'd have to purchase a new plastic bumper since you cut the OEM. That and paint would cost more than just leaving the new metal bumper.

Alright so I wanted to give a few pointers to everyone when doing this install. I had to put the last part of my install on hold as we had horrendous downpour and storms for the last 10 hours. Once the weather calms down I will finish and post pics.

    But for pointers:

    1) dont remove the bumper to remove crash plate UNLESS you are confident you can get things to unclip without snapping pieces. I have a 2016. When I was attempting to unclip the bumper with the bracket where the 10mm bolt is located (near headlight, top of fender behind flare) my bracket where the bolt was completely snapped with the smallest amount of pull. Luckily I was able to cement glue it back together and it looks brand new. But, that was enough to stop me. Instead; all you need to do is remove the two plastic guards located behind the grill. I originally had these already removed for my lower bumper light bar. When i removed that light bar a week ago in preparation for the new one in this bumper, I put those pieces back. Once I removed them again, I was able to move the crash bar around and it came right out.

    2) Take your time on measurements. I did not cut as short as the original directions said to. I did this to help correct any mistakes I was bound to have during cutting. And sure enough, I did. I used a multi tool but there were times the blade got caught just right and my straight line became jagged. With that extra room, it help me clear it back up. Yes it takes more time as you basically cut twice; but I prefer that. Its still not perfect, but I plan to sand the uneven spots down to make it look smoother.

    3) When doing the cooler relo kit, I suggest using the extra nut they suggest. For my truck; Without that extra nut, I was not able to tighten down the factory bolt as it was coming in contact with the cooler after being placed onto the bracket. Once I added that, I did not tighten the rear hex nut all the way down UNTIL AFTER I installed the factory bolts back. This is so you can slide the cooler whatever direction you need to get the factory bolts to mount down easier.

    4) you do not need a second person to install this. Once your cuts are done. crash bar and surrounding pieces removed, this is easy. If you removed those plastic shrouds I mentioned earlier, you can actually mount the bumper while standing. Slide the bumper over the factory bolts where crash bar was. Once you have it all edged up under the bumper to be smooth, you can then hold it up by leaning into the bumper and attaching the nuts to hold it in place. This helped me then go back and re draw any trim lines I needed to see what would be flush.

So far, the install really isnt hard. it did take me almost 4 hours since I was so nerve racked on my cutting. I spent more time then needed, and yet its still not perfect. I finish the rest of the mounting today and will add any further details of whatever I find. All in all it has turned out awesome thus far.

good pointers. i would add that using a floor jack will help in supporting bumper when putting in place. I installed mine with a winch also so it made it cumbersome to put in place. and you won’t struggle. I also left room for error and ended up cutting more off the center lip that fits over the top of the bumper then what the instructions say. that section of the plastic was overhanging. i basically have just enough plastic remaining to allow the edge guard to fit on in the center section.

Good point on winch. Since Im not running one I didnt need a floor jack (thankfully since I no longer have one). I too am considering cutting more of the trim down but I want to see how much sanding it smooth makes a difference. I dont care for the bumper over haning the bumper some but at same time i dont want to have a gap tooth look by trimming too much lol if you do trim let us know what it looks like!

i would also add that I do love the fit and look of this bumper. The one gripe i have is the mounting points of the winch. Other hybrid bumpers such as SSO slimline has a shelf where the winch mounts and the mounting bolts are hidden. This bumper bolts winch directly to the bottom plate so the bolt heads are exposed on the underside of the bumper. But again i love this bumper and am still glad i chose to go this route.

Looks like its extremely similar to the one Grumpysedc installed. So I'd think it would fit just fine.

I’m new to this forum. I just installed the Body Armor hi-line, and a Smitty Built X20 10k winch. I’m trying to find a plate mount and a roller fairlead. Any suggestions? Obviously I had to improvise, I’d like to not have my plate on the grill obviously. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am putting the same Hiline bumper on my 2019 TRD PRO. This bumper is 80lbs & new winch is 80lbs. Do you think that’s to much weight on the front of this truck?

Why a roller fairlead? You have a synthetic rope winch. You don't need one. As for a plate mount, didn't your bumper come with one? If not, you can have mine. My state doesn't require a front plate. Just throw me a few bucks for shipping and PM me your address.

Did some reading, it’s counter intuitive that rollers would actually cause more chafing potentially than a regular fairlead. Learned something. I bought a mount on Amazon that flips up. The bracket that came with the bumper is a solid piece that mounts under the fairlead, but it doesn’t flip up out of the way. I don’t know. This is the first time I’ve installed a winch/winch bumper. Thanks for the reply though.

I’ve had this bumper for about 3 months. No issues, great bumper.
