    Does no one here have dyno numbers at 2.8 and say 2.3 pulley/tune levels? I would assume that would be the end all to which is better.

    I mean yes and no.

    For those not wanting meth or E85 (which I understand because E85 stations are hard to come by in general) Larger pulleys are the way to go.

    I have been experiencing much better fuel economy lately. I went from 13 up to 14 MPG and that's hammering it every so often mind you. It seems to have been improving even beyond that and I think it actually has to do with switching back to the larger pulley. The spark plugs may have something to do with that as well, but I digress..

    I still have a ways before I need any maintenance....rebuild, snout oil change, even spark plugs. My mpg’s stayed the same (14ish) but my truck definitely feels better with the 2.7. I had a 2.825 on for quite some time before stepping into a 2.7. Obviously the smaller you go the heat build up your gonna get, I just wonder how drastic that build up is going to a 2.7 and how inefficient the blower starts to get....

    Big part of it all is having a good flowing exhaust system. Changes the efficiency curve.

    Yep. Hence the reasoning for working around the current pulley size you have in play by opening up the breathing characteristics of the engine rather than swapping down pulley sizes. It's no longer about spinning the blower to the moon.

    The game has changed gentlemen, and knowledge is power.

    Yes.

    The more you can open up intake, exhaust, and offer the engine a more complete burn (this includes swapping out to those Rutheniums since they have a better flamefront kernal) the better.

    You sir are ruining my day. Just two weeks ago i bought a smaller and replaced my spark plugs.

    I'm still running my 2.3.
    I may go back to a 2.5.

    I would go 2.5 if I was towing or pulling around a lot of weight often because I'd be in boost for longer periods of time rather than a quick pull then letting the system cool.

    Of course once I install my meth system I expect temps not to be an issue but time will tell.

    so whats the consensus? I have a 2.3, 2.5 and 2.8. I want race truck (armored, of course).

    Also, when we talk about extra heat generated are we talking about raging the truck for minutes or making a quick pull out into traffic. I generally drive pretty reasonably unless im pulling into traffic or see a honda with a massive wing.

    After running the 2.3 for months now I think the 2.5 is the best compromise between heat generation and power without meth.

    @Darkgoatracer I am talking about a 0-75 pull or freeway on ramp, etc. I wouldnt run a 2.3 on a track without artificial cooling.
