What makes this machine better than your 252?

I'm glad I don't have to figure out how to run that thing!

Looks nice, but I worry I'd never remember what my previous settings were.

I'm too, stupid for something like that.

A rock and a stick is more my speed.

    Check Build thread
I think I remember reading that the machine can save certain settings that are most used for easy switching for materials etc

    thought that was kinda cool

I pretty much use the same settings for everything, but anytime I find settings I like for a specific open corner weld or something with a lot of stick out, I take a pic with my phone and save it. I do the same thing with my weld positioned. Every time I get the speed set for a specific weld I shap a pic and add a note so later I can look it up and don’t need to burn a test piece.

other bonus to the rear out is it’s easier to get repeatable settings and when the machine is off you can move the dials and your settings don’t change.

Yes it allows you to save and store different settings. I need to grab a 90/10 mix tomorrow so I can really use the plasma arc feature but right out of the gate the short arc mig is really smooth and has even more control than the 252.

I haven’t even gotten into all the features of the 255 but looking forward to learning the new machine.

Rest of my bender showed up, anal beads and all. I’ll build a stand for it next week and start dicking around with it.

So I admittedly have no idea what I am doing here and just watched a few you tube videos before attempt this, but I took a stab at repairing a crack in my transfer case with some brazing rods and was curious what you guys think and whether I should grind it out and try again.

I drilled the ends, opened up the crack, cleaned with acetone and a wire brush. It certainly doesnt look pretty but this isnt a beauty contest. After grinding, the outside actually looks better than I thought and the alluminum seems to have bonded. From the inside it looks more like I just filled the crack with a alluminum.

    Would you run it?

I was afraid I would have to answer that question. I was being stupid and f'ed up putting it back together right before a trip to Moab last fall because I was in a rush. I did not get the high/lo sleeve lined up properly as I put the halves together and continued to crank down on the bolts until the case cracked :anonymous:

I actually ended up by another case so this is actually a spare now.

lol I dunno man, that bender looks bad ass, but the anal beads look pedestrian at best. Based on what I’ve seen on the internet that is :anonymous:
