I cant get both....

I'm having trouble deciding on wheels and tire package or a canopy. If I get a canopy it would be the leer 100xl at $1844 and if wheels and tire package it would be 16" raceline renegade 6 in matte black with 265/70 bfg all-terrain. Help me decide.

 

i'd get the tires one because they look pretty good. and two i do not like shells at all but thats juts me

 

Which is more useful with winter right around the corner?

 

Do you need a shell? All depends on what you want and need.

 

It would be both for me. I can use better tires for traction and a shell to keep all my stuff dry and secure.

Tires, but thats just because i'm not a fan of canopy's

 

if you dont have your heart set on the shell look at some tonnueas , they are probably half the price of the shell and ya might just have enough for the rims too

 

Do which one is more useful personally. I don't have money for getting stuff for the looks. Get what will help you the most

 

Look for a used shell. You can probably save a lot of money and get both.

I'd get the shell. That will be my first "mod". I would like rims and all that, but I don't need them, whereas the shell will be very useful.

I vote for this one too. Mine is brand new and the rims are good to go for at least this winter for certain, but I plan on carrying stuff in the back this winter.

 

are your tires going to be safe with winter around the corner? As long as the tires are good go with the shell. If your not in a hurry keep checking craigslist for a deal!

 

I'd like to thanks everyone for replying. So I have my mind set on the Truxedo Lo pro QT. For those of you with this tonneau cover do you recommend it? How is it in rain, snow, automatic car washes and outdoor elements? Do you get little to no leaks? If I go this route I should still have enough for the wheels and tires. Like someone mentioned I might just find someone selling a shell on craigslist I'm in no hurry for a shell just anything to keep my stuff dry. Also I probably got about 15k miles left on my stock Bridgestone Dueler tires if that.

 

If you get the cover you will notice a HUGE difference in traction with the extra weight in the bed. Much more traction than you would with a set of all terrain tires. I put on my bed cover in the winter for this reason and it works wonders.

 

I'm a big believer of function over form. New wheels won't do anything for the performance of the truck. The canopy allows you to store stuff in the back without worry, keep stuff from getting wet or stolen. For the cost of the wheels alone, you could get a good used cap. I have a Snugtop Rebel on mine and love it. I took it off one time to haul furniture and put it right back on afterward. I like it better on than off.

Yes, the tonneau will keep stuff dry, but you can't haul near as much under it as you can the shell. I don't know why people don't like it.
