Code is PO438 per OBDFusion, but per Techstream it’s P034515 - Crankshaft Position Sensor “A” Bank 2 Circuit Short to Battery or Open.

    Where is this thing located?

Thanks in advance for any help

Welp, that was easy... popped the hood and noticed rodent prints everywhere. Looked around and sure as shit, some critter chewed up some wires. Is it ok to drive without said sensor?

It will figure out TDC from other sensors, but I would fix it sooner than later.

After closer examination, it appears that the sensor is likely fine, but the harness and related wires are what needs replacing. As far as I can tell, the sensor bolts into the manifold or whatever, and then a plug snaps into it. The wires that lead into that plug are clean cut right at the plug (no room to solder back together). Will I need to replace the plug and wires? Where are the other end of those wires?

There's a thread on here of a nearly identical situation. Sounds like you need a wire harness repair kit for that connector.

Yeah get the repair kit. Basically a pig tail that you'll splice to the OEM wiring with a plug on the end.

Here’s a picture of the plug with wires severed by a critter and a picture of where the sensor is located. From the picture of the location, it’s hard to tell where it’s at in the grand scheme of things. I think the best reference points are the nipples that hold the intake cover down; there’s two of them. The sensor is almost directly under the rearward nipple.

I’m gonna head to the stealership tomorrow to see what replacement part options I have. I’m hoping they sell the plug with attached leads that I can cut to length and splice onto the existing wires.

For anybody else that runs into this: the wires come off the plug and head toward the rear of the vehicle. At first, I started taking stuff apart going toward the fuse box... that’s the wrong way. Unfortunately, all this crap is under the air intake and is VERY tight.

Sounds like it is except mine has 3 wires, not 2. There’s a red, green and dark green.

I had the same critter issue and was able to get the fix done without removing the intake manifold which probably saved a bunch of time. Used a universal 3 pin connector. Pretty much any wires will work from there. I just did a butt splice.

The stealership does the same thing and makes their own…but they’ll charge you $100 for it and 6 hours for removal of the manifold.
