I have 5.29 on 33” tires. Anyone pulling a camper trailer with this set up?

yes sir. Firestone ride rite airbags with daystar cradles. I’m running about a 2.5” lift. Ome bp51. I also use a Weight distribution hitch. It’s long enough to tow with the tailgate fully down if I wanna bring dirt bikes in the bed. Works out great. Pm me if u want links to the WDH I’m using.

Having trouble deciding between the 4.88 and 5.29 like most do. 285/75/17 tires Icon stage 4 lift. No armor as of now, only planning on maybe some skids and at most a hybrid slimline bumper. I live in the midwest where it is pretty flat and I routinely do 80-85 on long stretches of highway. Thoughts? I have gone through about 60 pages of this thread and not seen anyone post with 34s that is not fully kited with tents/armor etc. Also has the speed limitter debate been resolved? what is the top speed of the truck with 5.29s and 34s?

hmm thats a tough one. are you an AT? I'd deff recommend 5.29's for that truck setup even with little weight, however 85-87mph? I woldn't recommend 5.29's if regularly travelling those speeds. 70-80 regularly sounds more okay and in line with 5.29's but if your set on driving that fast, i'd probably go 4.88's.

Auto transmission. Sorry I fat fingered it. 80-85 is what I meant to put. Realistically 70-80 is more of where I would sit, but I just want to have the option to touch 85 if needed.

5.29s aren’t really for rigs doing that type of speed. Overall the 5.29s will be what you want but for max comfort at that speed you’ll want 4.88s. They’ll be fine overall for you I would say

you can most certainly reach out to 85. I personally havn't spent much time up there but have been up to 90mph in my truck. 5.29's on 285/75/16. 33's. I found i've gotten used to the gears and adjusted driving speeds without really thinking about it. I too was concerned about top speeds when i re geared but now i find myself sitting more around 60-70 when i normally was driving up around 70-80 before the re gear. Sounds like 5.29's would workout great for you if you think you'll sit around 70-80. look into an rpm calculator and find out your rpms at 75mph. i'd think on 34's you'd be around 2300-2400rpm off the top of my head.

I just cant imagine sitting at 60-70 around here. the speedlimit is 75 in a lot of places on the interstate. most folks routinely do 5 over so you would be a hazard to yourself and others that slow in some spots.

figure out what your rpms will be with each and drive around for a while at those rpms. That's what I did to get an idea how it would sound/feel.

AT with 5.29s on 35s and I hit speed limiter at 96 MPH, that is 86 MPH indicated. Truck can pull more easily as it has the power until the fuel shuts off. hoping OVtune fixes the speed limiter. I know that is just to fast.

Hey y'all! I hit up a few shops in San Diego for a quote on regearing to 5.29s and they all ranged from 3100-3500 for Nitro Gears and Labor. I then got a quote from a shop up in San Bernadino and they quoted me between 1500-1800 for Revolution Gears and install. Is 3000+ an absurd amount of money for a regear, or is 1800 bucks too good to be true? I guess I am a little shocked at the price difference. Anyone care to share what they paid and give input on Nitro vs Revolution gears?

By the way I currently have 295/70/17s with a full size spare, run a bed rack with a rtt full time and plan on getting skids and bumpers within the year... so I feel pretty confident 5.29s are the right call :)

    All....

I noticed something strange and would like some opinions. I regeared 600 miles ago and on my first 2 tanks during break in I was getting a solid 15mpg
Premier Gear in Riverside just did mine for $1800 as well as two of my other buddies, so far we are all pretty happy with their work.
