    Happy birds day @mach1man001

kind of reminds me about finding Rhode home. My wife was going for first dog. First dog? Lab. They’re dumb and forgiving and joyous creatures. We were looking at dogs and one day she sends me a random picture of a catahoula named sprinkles. At this point I’d never heard of the breed but started researching. Sheep/cattle dog, high energy, etc etc. I was a bit weary but said okay. We were maybe third on the list for sprinkles but were told they had another catahoula just not on their site yet. Enter Katniss. Turns out her “legal” name was just Cat. And her listed birth date was the day they spayed her. So we have no idea how old she is, we have a rough idea. Turns out she had actually been adopted out and then brought back because she was too much. Everyone always says they’re high energy and a lot, I dunno, maybe we got a defective one or I’m just so used to the energy level of a husky, she seems fine. She needs exercise but not like the husky did and honestly what we do with her is hardly more than we’d do with a lazy lab, she’s not overweight/acting out etc. and as mentioned before, she’s smart enough but not too smart. Really love the breed.

funny part is my husky growing up, the family brought her to the pound, kids cried so they brought her back home, she destroyed a couch, so the dog went back to the pound. So this is now my second dog that has been “just kidding” adopted before us. Also the second dog that ran out into the lobby to meet us and immediately peed on the floor. The woman who was helping meet and greet looked sad like we were going to say no after she peed on the floor, I just laughed, pointed to the dog and said “that’s my kind of dog right there!”

Somebody help me, I travel the country for work and I have found something in Tacoma groups that I haven't seen anywhere else. I've spent 40 weeks/year hitting a different state each week and I have never seen this. When did North Carolina become the northeast? I am happy to have them, NC is one of my favorite states.
I have a lot of admiration for people who volunteer for any cause worthwhile, but I've never had a good experience with a breed-specific rescue. There isn't a GSP rescue group in Maine so I found one in the mid-Atlantic or southern New England, I can't recall. Anyways, I was the perfect candidate, I grew up running sled dogs, my wife can take our dogs to work, I worked from home 2-3 days of a 4 day work week, the list goes on. Well, their rules were so constrained for city people, that they wouldn't adopt to me because I don't have a fence at my house. Funny thing is, I don't know a single person with a fence. I have thousands of acres out my door to run my dog and that wasn't good enough. I wanted to adopt a dog named Sampson. This was November/December, after a time of going back to them to try to adopt the dog, I found a breeder and she said that she was set to have puppies in January/February. My dog, Benny, was born overnight of January 31/February 1. I received him at the end of March. In April, I checked the adoption group. Sampson was still available. I love my dog and have no regrets, but my heart sinks for that dog that was either bounced around from place to place for many years or went to a family way after he could have been rehomed. I think people's hearts are overwhelmingly in the right place, but I think they lack the vision to realize that nuisance matters. I probably will only get hunting dogs from breeders in the future and I will donate to shelters (Harvest Hills Fryeburg, Maine). There is something to be said that when you want a dog for a purpose that you start from scratch. I know of lots of people who get good bird dogs out of shelters/adoption, but they are the exception and it takes a real calling to want a dog for a purpose and gamble that it won't be up to the task (gun shy, poor nose, etc).

    Happy Birthday Rob!

The Northeast is PA and north/east in my mind. Anything south of MD is the Southeast. And in no way can NC be considered Northeast.

I hate to say this and I am sure I'll get shit for it, but I would never adopt a dog if I wanted a specific breed. I would go to a good breeder without question. If I were adopting a dog I would be open to any breed, and I'd probably far prefer a mutt in that case.

I've found that a lot of the rescue organizations bring pups up from various southern states, I would guess primarily the ones that shelters with high euthanasia rates. It seemed that, regardless of the rescue organization, a lot of them bring pups up from the south. That was part of the frustration, you could never tell if the pups were actually here or somewhere down south. Then, some would be spoken for before they even came up, some were already adopted before they even hit their website. My pup came from Mississippi originally.

That's going to be my first route. Performance wise it's all the same. Electrically I need the quietest system possible. It's such a specific problem
