Did you ever find a spot? I finally got my lightbar mounted and want a long stretch of quiet road to see how far they project.

Google is failing me. I only find a small soccer field off Kinchloe in Clifton that does not look ideal. Where is Kinchloe Field?

That's it. It's pretty big and there's one spot that gives a quarter mile visibility.

I used to run the dog there for water retrieves. Nice secluded place.

 

I am close to this spot that is nice and open. They don't fly out of there anymore. The hangers are full of farm equipment so I won't potentially blind any incoming pilots. Completely unlit so it was never used at night anyway. There is a pull out where I can pull up to the fence at Warrenton Airport and shoot down the runway for 1.5 miles, but they might frown on that.

 

I've been wondering how good that radio is. I have the Uniden CB that's just like it that was great being so compact. Don't really use CB much but I'm wondering if running an antenna mount and wire I can swap quickly between CB and GMRS is a good idea. They appear to be the same housing so a little surgery to match up the power connector would mean I could go between the two in about 30 seconds.

 

I don't think you can use the same antenna between the two.
