With it mounted like that, he'll run a strap through the spare tire and around the frame of the bike. That keeps it from flopping around. It also takes stress off of the welds and the forks of the bike.

Alright so as of now, I use two cam buckles and the bike leans against my spare tire. In the future I am going to weld up a removable post where I can lean the bike straight up, but for now, it works like a charm. I normally have a color matched bed cap on so the handle bars of the bike sit flush with the roof of the cap. I needed a way to transport the bike without shoving it in the bed of the truck- I sheared off my rebound knob doing that and that was a pain to fix. This does just that.

Let me know if there are any questions. Of course the cam buckles also have turquoise rubber pads because #TURQ for life!

Ok so strapping it to the tire is what is keeping it from flopping around. Not worried about scuffing up that carbon?

Yeah that strap around the spare tire makes the bike super solid. You move the entire swingout with the bike strapped down. And the carbon is fine, only touches rubber of the tire. Plus it’s a 6 year old bike so I’m not too worried about scuffs anymore- I got plenty.

Mine is only a year old but Pisgah has been rough on her, plenty of paint chips.

Damn! Nice bike. I’m tempted about getting a new hardtail. Diamondbacks are calling my name, but I’ll always be a Yeti fan

What about just making a small post that you can somehow strap to the pedals or crank arm?

All over honestly. Palmer Park has a couple. Occasionally Santa Fe trail. I normally go out to Vail/Breck area or out to Moab

Stupid question...how would you line up the tire on a rim with 3 logos? Maxxis label opposite the valve stem and thus between two spank logos? Or on the same side as valve stem and aligned with a spank logo?

In reality, it doesn’t matter. But I keep the tire brand logo lined up with the valve. That is traditionally how it’s done

That's what I usually do. I know it doesn't matter from a technical standpoint. Just noticed my current set were Maxxis logo opposite the valve stem, and the 3 logo rim throws a wrench in the situation.
