Here's some pics, mine came in yesterday. I will hard wire it eventually, but for now it's in the cig port which I made always hot. I don't know if I'll have time before this weekend.

Right but with an NMO mount it's a quick swap. I know Midland does a GMRS one and I think Wilson does a short CB.

Yep very true. I already have two NMO mounts ran to my roof so it made installing this a breeze.

For those that are camping, we request that you please bring firewood. It never hurts to have too much because any that isn't used can always be used next time. I'm grabbing two of those bundles from home depot.

I grab bundles of this from Tractor Supply when I am traveling and don't want to rely on scavenging. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/mountain-timbers-bundled-firewood
It carries the USDA kiln dried stamp so it is safe to travel with. (Any kiln-dried retailer wood bundles are fine, stamp or no stamp though).

I usually buy bundles as well because more often than not, scavenging means I have to deal with damp wood. The store bought stuff just burns so easily. And because it can be traveled with. Thanks for the link, I like TSC wood as well whenever I come across one.

I was in the GW recently and found a ton of scrap left over from logging. Not all of it was dry enough though. I had to mix it in with the store-bought to keep it burning.

I messed around with my baofeng and my new midland GMRS to get them to talk to one another.

If you have a GMRS, we will be on Channel 15, CTCSS privacy code 13.

If you have a baofeng, use frequency 462.550. Go into the menu and change R-CTCS and T-CTCS to 103.5Hz.

will you be giving lessons this weekend on how to use them? I’ve used the Harris 152A but assume we’re talking different animals here!

and I have plenty of firewood that didn’t get used up this past winter that I can bring. Anything else?

I think 107.2Hz will work a bit better than 103.5Hz for R and T CTCS. Regardless, they’ll both work

Nope, nevermind. I was looking at an outdated CTCSS/ Link Frequency Chart. 103.5Hz is right...

Although there does seem to be some discrepancy for privacy code 13 of it being 100.0Hz, 103.5Hz, or 107.2Hz between charts. Best to go with the middle ground at 103.5Hz
