yep exactly. its so easy to spend 30-60 minutes setting up and tearing down. Thats a huge time suck when you are at a different spot every day.

That's why ive got the habitat, its about 2 minutes to setup and 5 minutes to pack down. the RTT i had, you could easily spend 20+ minutes, it was stupid.

I'd prefer 20 minutes of RTT than 20 minutes of ground tents. :p

Either way, it will be fine. I just placed the order.

Top 2 expensive mod purchase. :bananadead:

Awnings mean roof rack. No roof rack. I do dig the awnings tho ! Would be nice with a 2 person Swag and cot under one.

If it was just me going for 2 weeks, I'd use the same pop up tent in the bed of the truck like i did last year. However, that won't fit 2 and a doggo.

I'd also obviously use it more than just for one trip. I was kind of looking at it as a way to get me out camping more instead of having to hassle with a ground tent. And around my neck of the woods, you don't wanna be sleeping on the ground anywhere remote between April and October.

The iKamper style would be sweet but f that price tag !

For the Smittybilt ?? Saw they had the Overlander on Amazon for 950 and change, but must be the GEN1. Looks different than the one you linked. I have been reading up on it, but didn't realize there was a GEN2 out. Set up time also doesn't look like it takes 20 minutes like Shelly says.

Oh yeah, it takes 5 minutes. Like 6-8 things to prop the flaps of tent up and bam, done.

I bought the 2nd gen an hour ago, I just learned about the recent release yesterday. No interest free promotion if paid off in 6 months. Already had a card with Discount Tire and it works with 4WP.

    just get a bed rack..

you could also get a softopper and one of the tent things (there's lots options out there). @ajmogen used one with a hard shell topper

    https://www.softopper.com/accessories-parts/camper-tent

i also looked at the tepui low pro, its only 105 lbs

i was actually thinking of either mounting it flush to top of bed or a mid rack. Don't want the tent above roof line. I'm already getting bad enough gas mileage with the 35's.

You and zippers man. The struggle ! Think the Smitty's come with straps for the cover.

I have relentless fabrication bed bars, they're the short version which should allow my RTT to line up with the roof as you are thinking, or at least close enough. I'm real excited.
