I’d get the 2nd gen lower miles, 5-speed gives better application of the power albeit a little heavier. Sell the first gen and get the items you mentioned and don’t look back.

Yeah, I think I will pull the trigger, but he's holding it for me until noon today.

I was thinking about the same/similar engine being in a truck that weighs 500lbs+ more. My first gen is pretty anemic as it is.

That’s good, I agree but the difference between the auto and stick is pretty significant driving wise. You could always re-gear as well but that’s fairly expensive.

Dont know if any one else metioned it but being able to open the door on the back door on the AC cab was a big plus for me.
I had 2 first gens and putting my tools and stuff in the back sat was a pain in the a$$ with not being able to open the doors

it felt that way when I test drove it. But that was without any topper or gear in the bed (which my current truck has the former always and the latter most of the time).

It’s a tough choice I love both gens but the 15 has the extra room which just makes life easier also the back up camera and other safety features.

YES. This is really one of the most vexing aspects of the 1st gen.

Yeah, 11 years newer and a little bigger. It is probably much safer. I know they added the curtain airbags in 2009.

Can anyone advise me on what advantages this set of leaf springs would provide?

It’ll give you a little bit of lift, support weight better, and smooth out the ride.

So maybe worth it for the 100 bucks? Can I update these independently of updating other parts of the suspension?

Imho no you still have to get u-bolts for 160 get everything new. You could do that but it may have a stinkbug stance and I’m not sure if the oem shocks would work. But if you plan on a small lift it’s a great over blocks.

Why are you still here talking to us instead of sitting in that 2nd gen. The fact that it has 1/2 the mileage, more room, you can swap your sound system over mostly, and get everything you wanted with a small uptick in overall size you should already have money in that mans hands.

Maybe I'll see if he will just throw them in. I definitely was planning on giving it a little bit of a lift, but I am not sure when I will have the $$ to do so. What all does a full lift require (sorry, I am a noob). There are a couple of pairs of OEM TRD off-road 2019 shocks on craigslist for what seem like decent prices. If i updated the front with those and the rear with this leaf pack, would i avoid the stinkbug stance?

The biggest complaint I had with a second gen manual, was the cup holders. Ya know, barring that, you'd better get it...

Oh nice the 3rd gen shocks will net you about 1in up front that’ll give you a nice stance with the aal. You won’t have to get upper control arms or extended break lines going that route with the aal just an alignment.
