You folks think I can run out the rest of my 87 tank on the 93 tune without destroying anything...then fill with 93?

Not using gas at the same rate these days and eager to see what the 93 tune feels like.

    thanks!

I believe it is optimized for 93 but I don’t see it damaging anything to finish up the tank.

It'll run like shit but shouldn't hurt anything, I'd just wait though.

Never run lower octane on a higher octane tune. I don’t care what other people say, you can destroy your engine

No. If you are not on an Octane Learning tune, don't mess around.

What about the opposite, I am currently on 87 tune, what if I fill up on 93 an hour away from home?

There is never an issue going with a higher octane. The issue is always going down in octane on an octane specific tune, and getting destructive detonation.

In the end, octane learning will be on all the latest tunes (there now for MTs), so it will no longer be a problem.

Does "Learning" happen in 'S' and 'D' just the same? I basically never drive in 'D'

Today's ECUs always learn. I wish it was not like that at times, but no matter how you drive, the ECU will adapt to some extent.
