I had an interstate battery on my last truck, no issues whatsoever with it. not great if you're running any accessories though. Currently i'm running a 2x power that i got from Batteries+bulbs. it's basically a rebranded Northstar, even says it on the tin. i've been really happy with it so far and it's got a 5 year warranty with it. imo it's worth going with dual-purpose one if you can swing the cost. i'd stay away from the optima batteries though, they just aren't what they used to be. sure they still have a warranty on them but you don't want to get stranded somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I seriously looked at an Odyssey but nobody had the right one in stock near me, so i went with the 2x power one.

also, buy the more expensive one where ever possible. the battery that i just replaced was a 4 year battery, but it was date marked October 2011. no problems with it until it just died. often times the more expensive batteries will last a long time past the warranties before they go bad. the cheap ones, not so much. just my .02:thumbsup:

I put an oreilly lead acid silver battery in my Tacoma in 2014 and it's still kicking even after being used for winching and a couple total drains.

In fact, I need to go buy another because I sold it with a parts car for $50 because the guy didn't bring a battery

    Nice.

They're a bit more time consuming initially, but they make it so much easier for the whole set up.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

You're braver than I am. I'm willing to attempt a lot of shit on my truck... setting up gears is one of those tasks I will probably never attempt to do myself.

same for me. that's the biggest barrier to regearing for me right now. the parts are kinda pricy, but the labor is the killer.

I'm in the same boat. Labor cost is almost the same as the parts... and that's pulling the thirds and taking them in for "bench work."

I've got AutoZone AGMs, the house battery is pushing 5 or 6 years and I haven't been kind to it.

The Elocker is pretty easy to setup yourself compared to the 8.4.

The front is the hard one. Really easy to fuck up too. My rear I did myself has been fine, but the front exploded haha

I’m kind of dreading the front. I’m going to be installing an arb too, so we’ll see how that goes. Honestly my biggest problem is that I just don’t have the bench space to stay organized, so i have to clean up every 10 minutes

It was something that I figured I needed to do. I have a few friends that want to regear, but are either afraid or don’t want to spend the money. Maybe now that I’ve got the tools to do it, I can convince them to!

My buddy said I can use the lift at his shop this afternoon, so I washed my truck so I’m not bringing in a muddy biotch. Just swapping my uniballs out.

You better have sprung for the 90 degree micrometer tool to measure the back lash. Only way to do it is through the drain plug. PITA.

Totally user error. i think if i did it again I could do it but didn't want to bother as it's such a pain and bought an ECGS one.

Dealing with the carrier shims was a pain, having to wait a week cause they're special order from Toyota.

I did the rear just to understand how it all works, the front I didn't want the hassle. Even zuk doesn't like doing the front.
