cool. i just got my reg key, haven't even installed it yet, but will hold out for the *14 tune pack. i'm just sitting pretty on SFOB prem 2.0 dump tube, no reason to do anything ATM (although watching the AGM stuff, i have one).

You can certainly take a vF test drive. There is an 04B14 Stock file in there to look at and use to unlock the ECU / spend the Credits.

unless the gods come down and insist on return to factory calibration this truck will never see that again.

Speaking of, I am really surprised that there has been zero action here with those 04B13 tunes. I get that folks are happy with 2.0 in general, but still surprised.

Nobody messing with the limiters? Any digging in on the 1st Gear DFCO cut in?

I completely understand that. Curiosity got the best of me. I tend try getting back to basics to reset my perspectives in a lot of areas. Now, if we are talking about 04B12, well fuck that shit. :D

I guess. If so, it was worth the scramble to get the TSB stuff.

    Thanks, @Saeros !

I would tend to agree with that and that is likely true. My all stock Tacoma does not exhibit most of the issues that I have read about here on TW. For the most part my Tacoma drives very good. On the off chance that not all of the Tacoma manufacturing facilities use the same exact software/tune as each other or any changes are made through out a production model/year and that my Tacoma drives very good, why would I not want to save my Tacoma's stock tune? Also, what could it hurt? I have been tuning vehicles since 1990 and all of the different tuning programs that I have utilized have all had the capability to retrieve the stock tune from each individual vehicle.

Thank you. So I can save my Tacoma's stock tune with the flash tool, just to save it for flashing back to it if I ever wanted to do so. But I can't save it with vF Tuner, so I can modify my Tacoma's individual stock tune. Is that correct?

I am new to tuning, but I feel the same way about wanting to save my stock tune before I do anything.
    Thanks.

The software is the software. The hardware is the hardware with differences due to manufacturing tolerances. The interaction between all the software and all the hardware, plus the thing between the steering wheel and pedals is what causes all of the differences.

Preserving your ECU file is not going to change anything.

I am noticing that other than the color, our trucks are very similar and both drive good.
    Hmmm.

I would tend to agree with that too. I wonder if the TRD SPORT some how acts differently having a different rearend and no locking differential or if a 4WD vs a 2WD makes any difference. Likely not, but these trucks seem so finicky that even changing to a different tire causes issues.

I do agree that there are some odd, un-Toyota-like differences between trucks. I half thought that it might be TW voodoo until I drove a lemon 2017 DCSB OR MT. It couldn't have been more different. The other person was drop-jawed driving mine.

Thankfully I had no issues going to the larger ATs. I won't be going any bigger than that due to posted issues and even more posts about steering racks and such.

Note that all MTs have the same diffs as the ORs / Pros. So, it is freaking hard to figure out what is causing it all.

On the software though, it is the same file. Hell, we have all been passing around the same TSB files for almost two years now. :D

It would be very eye opening to drive a truck similar to mine that is all stock still and has a lot of the issues discussed here.
Thank you for your input.

I have a couple offers for that here once everyone gets post-COVID-comfy again.

    No problem! :hattip:
