Are these installs that I can do in my driveway armed with youtube and some lender tools?

Yes front shocks are really easy the aal can be frustrating your first time. But yes YouTube has all the info you’ll need and basic hand tools will accomplish I’d also get a couple of good c-clamps for the aal if you don’t have any.

If you plan on switching over just the 3rd gen shocks over, you will not get any lift. Its the coils on the 3rd gen that will give the .75 to 1" of lift. So if you can find a set of 3rd gen coilovers then you'll be good to go.

Cool, thanks for all the good info. Is this a weekend kind of a job, a Saturday kind of a job, or a before lunch kind of job?

That’s all contingent on your abilities for me it’s a Saturday killing a 12 pack.
I highly recommend you make sure the cam bolts that the lower control arms bolt to the crossmember are not seized. If they are you gotta cut them out and get new ones a major PIA.

I installed new shocks/coils and an aal on my 3rd gen with no prior experience besides minor repairs on my vehicles in the past and it took me and a friend about 8 hours including a couple trips to relpace damaged hardware and buy a couple of tools. Get good jack stands and floor jacks and research the install first and it really isn't difficult. Make sure you torque everything to spec and retorque after 500 miles and you will be good.

For the price go buy the truck right now and don’t look back. Worry about lift and accessories later lol

I wouldn’t even try to get the guy to lower price or throw in the AAL. I was buying a used tool once for a screamin deal and when I offered 5 bucks less than he was asking the guy walked and wouldn’t sell it to me.

I offered him 14,000 this morning and he is going to give it to me for 14,500. Glad he didn't walk.

I may be different since I’ve had so many setups but I can do the rear in less than hour per side and that’s not really rushing. The front I can do about 2 hours per side since it requires breaking down a lot more. That’s with hand tools and floor jack as well as jack stands.

I am getting real F-ing sad about parting with my ol' 2004. I think if it was a 5 speed I would drive it into the ground.

You want the front shocks and coils. The coils are what gives it the lift and since its already put together, you can just drop your "coilover" out and replace it with the 3rd gens.

Nice thanks for the info. What do you think is a reasonable price to pay for just the shocks and coils?

Depending on how many miles he put on those, I would say a really good deal would be $100. $150 still a good deal as long as the 3rd gen didn't have many more miles than you have on yours.
