Those new BAMF hybrid bumpers are sexy. Helped @Dex__43 this morning get his on. I really like the flat plate on top of the tube and the angle/line of the bottom tube coming up to the top one.

Those of you that have swapped your rear thirds, did you use lock tite on the bolts/washers that mate your housing to the third?

So I saw a post on T4R about someone’s third separating from his housing and he blamed it on not using lock tite.
I didn’t use lock tite when I did mine but I’m also around a thousand miles in.
You’ve had yours in longer than me so I’m gonna go ahead and assume I’m safe unless someone posts otherwise

Yea I think I'm probably fine considering how many miles I have on mine now. Although still not super assuring hearing stories like that.
When I was getting ready to do mine, I watched a bunch of videos on it and if I recall not every one used locktite.

If you really wanted to, i'm sure you could probably go and do one stud at a time without worrying about loosing fluid (assuming you sealed it with silicone and not a paper gasket or something like that).

    @betterbuckleup

His issue was no locktite on the ring bolts inside the actual diff. Made everything come lose from the inside out basically.

I was multitasking while reading his post and didn't really understand what he was saying until I went back and reread everything. So we should be good.

I don't think you need it though. Since you got thousand miles on it, just double check and re-tighten them if needed. They will stay put.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
For real @MattJakobs. I don't think you've got much to worry about. The dude who it happened to can blame it on the lock tite all he wants. But the questions are, does he know how to use a torque wrench? Did he even have a torque wrench? Did he have the third all the way seated in there before he torqued?

Lot's of other things that could have caused it. Easy to blame it on lock tite.

Anybody in here use carbon activated cabin air filters?

I bought one and it weakened my airflow so back to particulate we go.

Anyway I paid $25 for this one but $15 to anyone in here who uses em.

There’s a Toyota sponsored dragster that makes 11000HP. Gets 7 gallons to the 1/4 mile.

I'm sure the smiles per mile ratio is through the roof on that thing. All that really matters in the end.

When you’re standing on the side of the track as it goes by, you feel it in your chest. It’s incredible.
