nd your wisdom goes well beyond your years. Very well spoken man! This touches on an entirely different, yet simple point. Secular scince has proven how the Earths temp has always been changing gradually, which leads back to a definite beginning. Gotta go get refreshed on this now. Thanks nd.:D

Man that is SOOO true. As if there weren't enough challenges, you have people that are "on your side" so to speak that are more damaging than helpful by a long shot... unfortunately these are the people that gets the attention and gets the TV camera pointed at them... LOL

ROFL! Very true--THAT happens all over--every pagan I've ever seen on tv has been a wackjob dancing around the replica of stonehenge in his backyard or a witch swearing that she can really fly on her broom....sigh. Gee, thanks for helping! NOT! LOL!

Roy, yes, I implied my belief. I'm not here to tell everyone that I'm right / they're wrong / blah, blah, blah - it's just my belief. In no way can I prove that it's fact.... and in no way am I going to argue. I'm just stating my belief as other have, and I respect every belief here.

    It is, after all, faith...

I'm catching up after a long weekend away. I'm not responding to any particular post(s) but there's a few general observations I'd like to throw out for consideration. Firstly, I can't agree completely with what either side is arguing, nor can I go along with what other people in the middle are proposing. There's a huge range of possible worldviews here.

Regarding proof -- that's not as clear as you'd think it'd be. There's a whole field of philosophy called epistemology that considers how we come to "know" anything. Ultimately everything we know has to come in through our senses, but can we trust them? There's a worldview called solipsism that says my mind is all there is -- all these interactions I have with other people are just figments of my imagination -- these sensory inputs are just generated by my mind itself. That's all neat and tidy and internally provably consistent. Yet, it's soulless and brings an immediate aesthetic revulsion. Proof is not all it's cracked up to be.

Still, proof is very useful (when appropriate) and I consider that plus faith to be the two foundational tools in my toolkit for understanding. Anyone who is not a solipsist has faith in something unproven (or even unprovable) somewhere in their worldview, no matter how much they deny it.

Regarding a rejection of the Big Bang -- at its inception it was considered too godly for scientists to accept. When the Big Bang theory was proposed, the commonly accepted scientific theory of the universe was the Steady State Theory. That said that the universe had no beginning, no ending -- it had always existed and always would. It was eternal. The very term "big bang" was coined by a detractor of the theory trying to belittle it. He (and a large group of scientists) didn't like the metaphysical implications of the universe having a beginning. It sounded too much like Genesis 1:1. How ironic now for Christians to belittle the Big Bang theory.

Oh, and thanks to the folks who pointed out its the extremists who get media attention. That is true on any topic. It's the biggest thing I hate about our media and our short attention span culture. But now I'm getting even further offtopic. I'll shut up now :D

A lot of people say there is too much going on in the world to be all by chance, well that statistically is inaccurate. Of the infinite number of planets in the universe, that means there is an infinite number of chances that life will start, grow, evolve, and come to what we see today.
The idea of evolution is a fact, no human evolution has not been proven, but the general idea that organisms evolve through genetic differentiation and the fittest of the organisms usually survive and pass on their unique traits to the next generation, after many generations the organism is much different, hence evolution. This is not a theory this has been proven by science. I personally believe that this applies to humans to.

So do you believe that we came from apes or something similar to apes. Because most genetic differentiation or mutation in nature is never good. Creatures that have genetic mutation usually never survive yet alone reproduce.

No thats false, genetic differentiation is essential to survival. Ask any biologist or botanist, its what creates diversity even within species that increases survivability. And yes we probably evolved from apes.
