Its all dependent on what tire/compound you are rocking.

I'm still running the stock ones that came on my Norco fluid 4 HT. I'm also new to the game.

Product managers usually spec crap tires (they may even be brand name, but have a different compounds) on bikes to keep their weight down. That being said, if you do not like tire wear just buy a harder compound tire but you lose traction.

Given equal compounds, I usually replace my rear tire at the 10-15% of tread remaining and my front has about 90% at that point.

I always wear my side knobs out first, they are a softer compound and start to get squirmy in corners. So once they start rolling I usually replace.

I don't think you'll ever find a negative review for 1up racks -- especially around here.

I love mine. It's simple, trustworthy, and built solid. The company is good for their word and stand behind their product. Zero complaints.

I bought the single bike hitch rack with an extension kit and a roof rack. This allows me to move the second tray (roof rack) back and forth between my bed and the hitch, as needed.

As you may have discovered, the "flush kit" bolts and t-nuts from 1up do not work with 80/20 bars. To solve that problem, I used 1up's standard mounting bar and the following hardware to achieve the same flush goodness:

    From Home Depot:
    (4) 5/16-18 zinc bolts, 7/8" length
    (4) 5/16" flat washers

Combined with these specific t-nut inserts from Amazon:

    Boom! Too easy.

See now I’m a bit more of a believer. My kids bikes are getting too big to just throw in the back of my truck. I was looking for an option to carry four bikes but I didn’t want the limo effect of having four bikes on the rear at all times. Having the ability to flip flop between roof mounted and to add it on the hitch would be awesome.

That's the standard mount you say? Looks like the flush mount would work but replace the provided hardware with what you listed?

Both 2”. Haven’t had the HD to compare, but the SD is rated for higher capacity, meaning a more stout build. Should mean less wiggle.

And I was talking about the ez pull handle. The rack should come with it, but doesn’t.

There’s two of them back there. Both over 6’. I’m just 5’8”, so I look like a dwarf riding next to those Sasquatches.
