not sure what your point there was. But if the Latino economy was better. Let’s say. American companies operating there paying them American wages. You think there would be an immigration problem? Yeah everyone wants to hate immigrants but no body wants to say crap about the American companies over there?

70's/80's GM propaganda. They couldn't make a better product so they just convinced American consumers that buying shitty 'American' products was peak patriotism. As you can see, it's still lingering today.

    My perspective-

I was raised by parents who grew up during the 20’s-30’s.

All my four grandparents were raising families during this time.

My parents, aunts and uncles and friends parents were raising families during the 70’s.

Listening to people who have survived during difficult economic times makes me appreciate having a good paying job with benefits, and I wish the same for anyone who wants it.

I don’t live near any large manufacturing factories but imagine anyone who does benefits from either having a job there, providing goods and services to someone who does, or benefits from the taxes paid by that facility to local and state government.

American jobs provide food and shelter to American families, tax revenue to the government, and provide ancillary benefits to the communities where these jobs are located.

To say that it doesn’t matter where your truck is produced is short sighted to say the least.

A Toyota/Lexus vehicle made in Japan is far superior to vehicles made anywhere. Not to bash our North American labor market or skill but the Japanese have a tradition of discipline and dedication that far surpasses ours...

Im not sure what you mean exactly. Toyota has 6 plants in the US. And they got their admission ticket a long time ago (1980’s) with their first plant in California.

Did you read Comeback: The Fall & Rise of the American Automobile Industry? It’s a pretty fascinating look at the Big 3 (but mostly GM) through 1960’s - 1990’s.

Europeans in general are more willing to pay higher prices. The profit margins are higher for the same product vs here in the US.

I deleted my post because I thought it was too far off topic.

Europeans pay more because of universal healthcare and yearly six week vacations.

They aren’t paying much for national defense. This is paid by American workers- how ironic...

Isn't that outside the scope of the conversation? I thought they meant it didn't matter in the sense of quality, not geo-econmically.

It's not always as simple as "creating jobs" and "providing tax revenue", but it makes a great sound bite.

I have not, but I'll put it on the list. Thanks.

I'm not sure how this causes them to pay more for a product made in China by an American company. Even after all the tariffs and taxes, they still pay a disproportionate amount more for the same product. I know this because I see the profit margin on the same product sold in both regions is higher in EANZ. But you are right, we should move on since this is a bit off topic.

Last time I was in Germany VAT tax on products purchased was around 19% and fuel was equivalent to around $10 USD per gallon.

As a Canadian, what is your guys opinion on Toyota's and Lexus SUV's made up here ?
Funny thing is that Canada doesn't have it's own indigenous brand and yet most Canadian people think of American brands as "domestic"...go figure...confusing. We own a BMW made in USA, another Toyota made in Japan, a Honda made in Canada and an RV made in USA...and our Tacoma...made in Texas...are they foreign or domestic?,I'd say they're all foreign brands even if the had the blue oval, the bow tie or the ram , to me it is more important that the people that build those vehicles were payed decent wages...and on top of that I'm an immigrant too...Romanian by birth.

I quoted your previous post as an example of a simplistic sound bite.

    Too funny!
