On pure principle and out of nothing but illogical stubbornness, I am now going to refuse to ever turn my phone sideways to view the sigs. Lol

From a stock rig I found the tune to significantly improve shift behavior and driveability. When you start going up tires like 285s and adding weight many forum members say the re-gear is night/day improvement. I have also read that the upcoming turbos provide some great low-end torque so with that purchase you may not need to re-gear. Keep reading and do some research on what the general consensus is. As long as you don't follow what 1-2 folks say you should get the outcome best suited for your needs. Welcome to TW and the thread that never ends :)

I've heard a rumor that Matt said to gear or not wont make a huge difference once you are talking about doing the turbo's so Im hoping I can get away with not doing it. But then I think about how Im adding a bunch of weight and the turbo is going to be a little time before I get my hands on one

60 years in a single state has bound to have seen some progress & change. That was from the 60-70’s to now. The rise and fall. :)

I was in Cali from 1976 to 2020. The state has gone to shit. I'm in Texas now and love the hell out of this place. I'm eager to drive on 2.0 final here especially with no smog testing.

While the tune did significantly improve shifting and such, software can only do so much when there's also a mechanical issue, being the gears. Personally, I'm still going to have to re-gear in addition to the tune, based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback I've heard from others who've already done so. However, I don't know diddly about the turbos.

Did anyone who has these tunes make a note of which one had OL (Octane Learning?)
They were released in 2019 for 04B04.

    2.0 EROM Shift Build 16012

    or

2.0 EROM Shift Build 10867 GearLock

I could have sworn I marked which one was OL. Don't remember ever having a GL tune w/ OL back than so I assume it's 16012 but if someone can confirm that I'd appreciate it.

(Don't want to bother Mat) Thanks

A lot of people have just done gears and been happy. I have only done the OVTune, and it made me not hate how the truck drives, but I'm still not in love. With skids, sliders, and 33" (maybe 35s someday) tires I'm going to do 5.29 gears as well. I don't much highway driving, so not interested in going 4.88 and being sorry I didn't go 5.29. Check out that gearing thread, there are a few people that have done both and it seems to really do the trick if you're adding a lot of weight.

I bailed out of the OVTune forced induction thread once it became pretty clear he was only going to do the TT and no SC. I'm not sure how the itemization/pricing is going to go, but I'm pretty sure you will need a tune if you go TT. If you already have the tune, it would be reasonable to not have to buy it again if/when you go TT.

Im with you on the 5.29s as I got the 4.88s before adding a bunch of weight and it was great now i wish i went with 5.29 as I slowly putter up a hill in 3rd gear.

How much is "a bunch"? I'm still on the fence between 4.88 and 5.29.
