Check the website for any fire restrictions--the most important thing, in my humble opinion. Stay the trail, as others have mentioned no matter how many dumbasses you see doing otherwise. Generally speaking, vehicles going uphill on a trail have the right of way, but it really comes down to who is in the least dangerous position to make room. Many of us here have had to back up and down narrow shelf roads...make sure your comfort/skill level matches this scenario. Let people pass only you if you are in a safe position to do so. On that same token, don't let anyone push you past your limits. They can wait.

You only need park passes if you go into state parks or national parks, and there is no mistaking that. Pack out more than you pack in (you'll find a lot of strange shit on the trails). OHV permits are required for some trails, but you may as well get one anyway since they are cheap and easy to obtain.

Even if a trail is open, it may still be impassable due to snow, landslides, downed trees, or other erosion damage. Know your limitations. Edit: and if it is impassable due to environmental conditions and you are unable to properly clear it, then turn around. Don't go around the obstacle.

I might be up in those parts early Saturday. Shoot me a PM once you are in your target area.

I will keep that in mind. I have a few trash bags in the truck so I should be good there.

Are you bringing a bike or other OHV, or just your truck? If just your truck I don't think you need the OHV permit. I haven't looked at it in a while and more may have been added, but I believe the only trail in the area requiring an OHV permit is Jenny Creek. Buff already covered the park permits. Need a fishing license if you're going to do that, which, while it doesn't go into effect until July 1st, would also get you into any State Wildlife Areas (SWAs).

Also, it finally being warm and possibly due to less human activity due to Covid, I’ve been seeing a lot more wild life. We’ve even had a mountain lion hunting in our neighborhood, lots of bears, and deer too. Keep that in mind when camping (food attracts bears) and driving. Also if you’re bringing a dog, please keep it under control. That can also mess with the wild life or it could get hurt, etc.

The know before you go applies to so many scenarios right now. Now there are city and county regulations for covid, fire bans, trail closures, where dispersed camping is allowed, where established sites are, what area is private property, which sites need a reservation etc.... I will tell you that I've been out two weekends so far and both were a bit amazing at the amount of travelers and I usually try to head out Wednesday or Thursday and home Saturday or Sunday. Have a back up to the back up plan and know a good few places to explore to find where you can be. Instagram from a week ago won't matter as places got snow the other night.... Probably be gone soon too but may have an impact above 9k feet...

Archiving this here as an attachment since it may get taken down once threatened with hefty fines by the USFS for going into a closed area.

Any trail runs going on next weekend? My cousin and brother are driving out from NC. We’re overhauling her tacoma with Kings, uca’s, icon aal’s, wheels/tires, skid plate and CMC. Then going wheeling/camping fri-sunday.

Also, we bought our kings together and got a deal, check out the size difference in 2.5 vs 3.0

The 3’s are for the Tundra im going to eventually buy.

Wow. So I just Googled the name, and apparently just a month ago he was also snowmobiling on a terrain park in Keystone during closure:
    https://theknow.denverpost.com/2020/04/29/david-lesh-snowmobiles-keystone-resort/238271/
A comment on that post supposedly was "Why is this guy such a tool?" And here he is again. Has anyone reported this latest incident to the actual Forest Service? [Edit: they have now.] That's three times in two years, and just from what I can see on the Instagram without having an account there may be more places he's been and done things that were prohibited just so he could get pictures. Dude needs a ban from federal lands.

Edit: and something about crashing his plane into Half Moon Bay in CA and then livestreaming the whole thing...

    Good grief.

If I didn’t loathe SM influencers already, this sack of shit would certainly push me over the edge.

Who cares about all of these buzzkill rules when you have likes to harvest and hashtag sponsor shoutouts to dole out, right?
