Change is scary, hence your regret. me, I'd go back, or try another service, see if they are a better fit for you

Dont go back man, you got out for a reason. There are a lot of benefits of getting out and a ton of opportunities outside that you can find happiness in. The change initially is rough. I hated my life in the Navy but after I got out I wanted to go back for the same reasons, missed the people and "stable" life style. Just hang in there and give it some time, its hard to adjust. Shoot me a PM if you want some guidance on adjusting and forging a new path, always willing to help another vet adjust to the normal world again!

How old are you? How much is remaining on your GI Bill? Family? Kids? Massive soul-crushing debt? What skills did you get? Degrees?

PM me if you want. I’m a retiree with the VA now and have picked up a bit from our counselors. You have benefits and options.

BTW - have you filed your claim yet? If not, get with a VSO and get cracking!

None whatsoever my quality of life is so much better seeing my family without ever wondering when I’ll leave again. The friends I made I still see yearly, opportunities are vast out here if you’ve got a marketable skill or trade, if not get one while you still have the freedom to. We’ve all had our own struggles with the transition myself 2x as a irr recall if you’ve want any advice on what I did or just need someone to vent to hmu.

Theres always stuff you will miss, part of life...moving on. Just remember your friends and the time you sacrificed. Lots of knowledgeable folks here, many services, many retired. All willing to bend an ear or give our experience.

Deployments, I don’t miss them at all. You chose to get out, something was telling you that was the right thing to do.
