I read an article today in the June 2020 ICMJ Mining Journal illustrating a prospecting trip a couple of guys enjoyed. They went to the Dale Mining District near 29 Palms and found a few pieces of gold! The article made it sound like there is open (unclaimed) land to detect on.
It was an interesting article and I thought about your trip out there.

I scratched up 0.42 grams of gold this morning. Three hours produced three nuggets. It was a beautiful morning and I'm glad I got out to enjoy it.
I had to do a bit of trail maintenance on my way out.

I dug under the down hill side and just rolled it over into the left track. That allowed plenty of room to get around it.
I was able to drive around to the right (you can see my tracks on the bank) but I didn't want to drive around with it being on my passenger side.
Next time I'm out that way I will bring a 6' bar and scootch it off the road. Can't have that shit gettin' in the way of my gold!!

GPZ, it finds the crumbs. And that may be all that is left in most of the places around here...

Absolutely they did! They got all the easy gold and some of the difficult to recover gold. But they didn't get it all.....

Newbie here, looking to buy a beginner all around detector. I remember getting a Garret brochure 30+ years ago and wanting to spend my junior high school lunch money in order to buy one, but never did even through college or after. but it's always been in the back of my mind. Anywho, since I bought my first truck this past Feb, I've been thinking about what I can do with it now, and detectoring is prominently in my mind.

Garrett is kinda what I'd like to go with, seem to be good all-around usage detectors, but I am wondering if I should wait until the new Ace Apex comes out, since it's supposed to have multi freq capability. Not sure when they are coming out but I would like to have yalls feedback or opinions. Amazon has the Ace 300 and AT Pro 55th anniversary packages for 300 and 600 respectively and they include a Pro Pointer AT in the package. Should I go with that and get to hunting or wait for the Apex?
