There may be a stock tune in there, any of OVtunes would be part of the tune pack. I know there is a stock tune for AT 04B04 that comes with vFtuner.

Well I just said screw it and bought the tune pack. I really hope on of these tunes gets ride of the stumble or bouncing when I'm low speed in second or first gear. Hopefully I like it as much as everyone else does!

From what I've read from the MT guys, they love the 2.0 final.

Any but the Dump Tubes. You don't have those.

If it were me, I would try either 04B90 Prem OL (Base) or 04B90 Super FOB Prem OL (SFOB). They are octane learning with the initial settings up high and those Prem versions have a bit more ignition advance if you do run high octane.

Those tunes will easily adjust to whatever is in your tank.

I would also like to know what all of the abbreviations mean.

Prem - higher initial setting for the ignition / OL
    OL - Octane Learning
Reg - Lower initial setting for the ignition / OL
FOB - Full Otto / most of the simulated Atkinson cycle is eliminated

Thanks for clearing that up! It really helps me gain understanding. What are the pros and cons of the Full Otto?

For the 1.05 tunes, FOB was an entirely different beast. Most all of us preferred it.

For 2.0, it is just a monster but similar to Base. It just seems like the throttle map is much steeper with more response. So, 2.0 Base feels like a really good, normal V6. SFOB just wants to eat.

I enjoyed SFOB for about 2,500mi until I got too curious about 04B14. Now, I am just happily waiting for 04B14 to drop.

There are no release notes for 2.0 other than what is here, so a lot of it is butt dyno impressions:

A few MT features were added after those blog posts.

I flashed the 04B81 2.0 91 Base Stock Truck Beta File on my truck yesterday and it’s running good. I like it over the factory tune but it’s not a huge change. I’m anxiously waiting for the tune pack for AT with 2.0 Final.

Is there a way to get 2.0 beta or final( not sure whats out) for my 04B90 6MT? Or is one of those in my tunepack and just named something else? Sorry for dumb questions.

I keep seeing all this talk about ECU’s and version numbers, stuff I know nothing about. What do I need to know about my ECU before purchasing and how do I find this out? I assume I need to buy a cable and then download something to read it?...totally new to this. Help would be appreciated.

What cable does OVTune recommend using to perform this tune?

I see tune packs for the 3.5 Tacoma on the OVTune website, does this include this “final” version that people are talking about?

There is a bunch of reading that will help catch you up. Basically you need to buy vftuner, a tactrix cable, and probably the tunepack. Id also scroll through the instructions in ovtunes website.

Im very happy with it so far. I really like the low end power and less delay or lag with the throttle input.

Redline custom leather shift and e-brake boot. VFTUNE Super Full Otto cycle, octane learning, premium fuel.
    I
Ok a whole lot of people know more than me

You need a tactrix openport 2.0 to connect computer to ecu. There are lots of fakes. Buy the real one. 169 dollars from tactrix.

The software to get to the ecu is VFtune.

The tune packs so you don't have to make your own learning mistakes and have something special to start with is the
3.5l tune pack from VF tune.

You buy VFtune, and Openport 2, get your ecu and then open your tune pac to flash your ecu.

I have just ordered, and I have a thread describing my experience so far, and I will keep it updated to help new users like me.

Oh thats awesome! For some reason the premium fob tune kept having errors. But the regular fob loaded first try. So that's what im running.

I’ve tried reading on here but it’s impossible when there’s thousands of posts and you’re not familiar with the language and terminology that everyone is using. I want something plug-n-play that will improve drivability, I’m not a tinkerer.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll look on the OVTune site for information to get spooled up.

Does the tune packs that are currently for sale include this infamous “final” version? I don’t want to buy anything twice.

Yeah that’s exactly what the tune pack is for. It gives you 2.0 you can either flash as is or use as a baseline to start tinkering
